Students Chosen as National Merit Scholarship Finalists
New Berlin, Wis. – Two New Berlin Eisenhower students have been named National Merit Scholar Finalists.
Seniors Nitish Katta and Momin Mohis were selected as finalists in the 2015 Competition for National Merit
Scholarships. They will receive Certificates of Merit and letters from the National Merit® Scholarship
Corporation (NMSC).
The National Merit® Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships. High
school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship
Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) and by meeting entry and participation requirements.
Out of more than 1.5 million entrants across the country, about 15,000 are selected as National Merit Scholar
Finalists. Of those 15,000 Finalists – which includes Katta and Mohis – about 8,000 will be selected to receive
2015 National Merit Scholarships. Those awards will be announced starting in April.
Since 1955, NMSC has recognized 3 million students and provided approximately 387,000 scholarships worth
more than $1.5 billion.
