In 2019 Krasnoyarsk will host the first winter Universiade which will become the third one in the history
of Russia.The University Games will be staged from the 2nd to the 12th of March, 2019. The 2019 Winter
Universiade Program includes 10 sports: Ski Orienteering, Cross-country Skiing, Biathlon, Snowboarding,
Curling, Alpine Skiing, Freestyle Skiing, Ice Hockey, Figure Skating and Short Track Speed Skating.
About 3000 athletes from 50 countries, 25000 tourists and guests and 5000 volunteers are expected to
participate in the events of 29th Winter Universiade 2019 in Krasnoyarsk.

Krasnoyarsk is a cultural, economic and educational center of Siberia and the capital of the Krasnoyarsk
Region (the second largest entity of the Russian Federation with the area of 2,339,700 sq.km). The Krasnoyarsk
region is rightly called the center of Russia: Lake Vivi (Evenkia) is located in the territory of the region, which
is the geographical center of the country. Krasnoyarsk is located on both banks of the Yenisei River. The
city combines age-old traditions and modern development. Its total area is 353.9 sq.km. The population of
Krasnoyarsk is 1,017,226 people.
Krasnoyarsk is an open and hospitable Siberian city, the city that gives opportunity to enjoy real winter and
winter sports in up-to-date and comfortable conditions. Over 20% of Krasnoyarsk population actively do
sports. There are over 150 sports developing in the region. Krasnoyarsk regularly hosts major national and
international competitions.

VENUE
The possible venues for the event are: Multi-purpose
complex “Biathlon Academy”, Multi-functional Sports
Complex “Raduga” or Stadium “Vetluzhanka” in Krasnoyarsk,
Russia. The Yemelyanovo International airport is 38 km from
the event venue. The proposed facilities are the Winter
Universiade 2019 sports venues.

ACCOMMODATION
CLASSES
TERRAIN DESCRIPTION
Different categories ranging from a hotel with full
board to a hostel are available.Alternative accommodations with self-catering opportunities will be
available on request. All accommodation facilities
are located within 10-15 minutes by car from the
competition venue.
WSOC W21, M21. Each federation can enter
up to 7 athletes in each class in the individual
events, up to 2 teams in the relay competition
and up to 3 teams in the sprint relay.
The eastern and northern slopes of the hill Nikolaevskaya sopka are covered with mixed forest. T he altitude
above the sea level is 600 m, the elevation changes range from 100 to 200m.

Competitors can take part in any events in the Krasnoyarsk Region in 2015-2017. The events calendar c an be

EMBARGOED AREAS

The area is situated in the western part of the city of Krasnoyarsk and comprises eastern and northern slopes
of the hill Nikolaevskaya sopka. The final decision on the accurate scope and terms of using of embargoed
area will be made after the Senior event advisor’s visit in March 2015. Detailed information will be posted on
the competition web-site.
