The crew above from the Men’s Club and their wives (the Men’s club cooks) worked very hard to prepare
and serve a wonderful Polish dinner. The wives and some of the men spent a couple of days shopping and the
Root’s brought the Kielbasa back from Northwest Indiana when they came back from Christmas with their
family. There was a great turnout and plenty of good eating. Thanks to the above crew

Once more I must remind everyone to obtain a
permit from Unit 4 before any work is performed
outside your home. I always thought air conditioners
only broke on the hottest day of the year, but it
seems that February is also a busy month. When you
need a new unit, the air conditioner companies tell
the customer they will get the permits, but the ones
they acquire are from the city. Once you have
agreed to have a new air-conditioner installed the
company wants to do the job in a hurry, but don’t be
swayed. The homeowner is required to get a permit
from Unit 4. We always check to see that contractors have the appropriate licenses and insurance for
your protection. May I also remind you to get a
second opinion when air-conditioner personnel tell
you a new unit is absolutely necessary. Not everyone is looking out for your best interest.
The Master Association has a policy that any
contractor doing work in Mainlands must have a sign
on their vehicle with the company name and license
number. Legal contractors are required to have this
information on their company cars. It helps keep
things on the up and up. Mainlands does not allow
contractors to advertise by placing signs outside. It
is considered soliciting, so if your contractor asks
permission to put a sign on your lawn, please tell
them no.
To those of you with pets we ask you to be
good neighbors. When you walk your pets, pick up
after them and take the doggie bag home to your
own trash receptacle. Leaving animal droppings on
lawns causes odors, health hazards and are unsightly. All animals, including cats, must be leashed
when outdoors. Please do not leave pets on a tether
outside your home. No dog may be over 35 pounds
at maturity, and no cat may be over 15 pounds at
maturity. The majority of pet owners are very good
about picking up after their pets, but it was recently
brought to the attention of the Board that many

WE HAVE OUR VERY OWN TV CHANNEL! Tune
to channel 732 for the latest news. It has news from
the property manager including police, irrigation
schedules upcoming events etc. etc. Just tried it for
the first time and it is a little jumpy and out of focus.
Since this is a brand new system for us it will take a
little time to work out the kinks. I’ve been told “We
are working on it”. Please be patient as I believe it
will be a great asset for communication. If you have
never had a box from bright house, you will need to
call them at 1-866-497-4630 to schedule installation. Be sure to tell them this is part of Mainlands
Unit 4 upgraded service. There is no charge for the
installation of ONE (1) box and a remote control. If
you already have a box, you are set. The cost of
ONE (1) box should be deducted from your bright
house bill. Event posting(s) (for our TV channel)
require submission of a form to the property management office. A form may be obtained from the
office in person or by having it e-mailed to you.

smokers are throwing their butts on the ground and it
makes the neighborhood look shabby. If you are a
smoker, please take your butts home and place them
in your trash containers.
Everyone is aware of the rule against overnight parking on the streets of Mainlands. Please
refer to 10D on the bottom of page 18 and the top of
page 19, in the Declaration of Condominium, regarding this restriction. Each resident was given two
yellow parking permits for guests so that cars can be
parked in the clubhouse parking lot for a limited
period of time. In section 2 page 2 of the Welcome
to Unit #4 booklet, under Visitor Parking it states
“..residents may be parked in a designated area of
the clubhouse parking lot for a period not to exceed
two (2) weeks in any calendar month. ….” Recently
this has become a concern. If you have more cars for
which you have parking needs, you will have to make
arrangements other than parking in the clubhouse
parking lot. We will give you an opportunity to
correct the problem, but if the problem persists, the
car will be towed at the owner’s expense. If you
have misplaced your yellow parking permits, contact
a board member and additional permits will be provided.
Don’t forget to give a kiss to those you love
on Valentine’s Day. Hope to see you at the

Hello and Happy New Year!
This is my last article for the Forecaster as
President of the Social Club.
I’d like to thank everybody that supported all my
projects and stood by my side for the past two years.
I would especially like to thank my terrific board. Joe
Radaker as my vice president helped me tremendously, Susan Sagues was an excellent Secretary.
Susan Ohl as Treasurer, Linda Bonneman our 2nd
vice president and Louise Fill for all the shopping for
our dry goods. I would also like to thank Ron Vagnier
for doing the Four~Caster. Anna Mitru as hostess of
our Social Club Breakfast and everyone that works,
serves, cooks and cleans up for our breakfast. A
great big thank you. Brenda Leong for printing all our
tickets and flyers.
New Year’s Eve Party was my last party, again
thank you all for helping to make it a big success.

Several weeks out but keep in mind that we
have an oldies dance on March 28,. We will have
music for your dancing pleasure by “Just Us”
We finally had a good group on Tuesday the January
sixth at 6:00 PM for darts. None of us are that great,
but we had great time! Then we had darts on the
January 13. and only 3 of us showed up. Instead of just
sitting around on a Tuesday, please try to join us.
The next event for the Men’s Club will be an afternoon
at the Dog track on Wednesday Jan 21. It will be lunch
and betting on the dogs. Good luck to all. I hope to see
all of you at one of our next events. Until then, from all
of the Men’s Club, good health, have fun, enjoy the
weather and stay safe.

Neighborhood Watch - Unit 4
Hello to all the residents of Unit 4. I would like to
wish everyone a great year ahead. I have been
checking with the Police every few days to see if
there is any activity going on in or around the Mainlands. Most of the problems are with businesses
along route 19. Don’t forget to call the police if you
see anything suspicious and keep alert. Please be
aware of scams - especially people claiming to be
from the IRS.

Mainlands Community Channel
Our community now has a dedicated television channel
where our residents can receive any pertinent community information. We invite all of our residents to tune in.
If you currently have a digital box your channel will be
732. If you have a digital ready television you would
tune in to station 98.1
Our residents can also submit postings to the
office that they would like to see on the channel. The
forms for submission are available in the association’s
business office. Please note that we will NOT be
posting advertisements or businesses. This service is
for community alerts, updates, schedules, emergencies, etc. We encourage our various clubs to be
active in their postings.
As this service is brand new to the business
office we have been working diligently to iron out all
of the kinks. We ask your patience while we work on
being “perfect”.

If you had as much fun as we did, then you are still
smiling... because we are.
Our Toys For Tots gala was a huge success. We
want to thank you for your generosity and applause
as we offered you an afternoon of fun and, certainly,
great baked goodies.

us? It would seem that all 125 of you had a wonderful
time. We hope you celebrated a Blessed and Merry
