B: REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION:
I: DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES
1: Diploma in Computer Science
(a): Direct Entry:
A candidate must have a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or East Africa Certificate
of Education (EACE) (‘O’ level) with at least three credit passes in the following subjects: Chemistry,
Biology, Physics, Geography, Computer studies and Mathematics including a pass in English.
OR
An Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) with subsidiary passes.
(b): Equivalent Qualifications
O level certificate with four passes including Geography or Chemistry or Physics or Computer studies or
Mathematics, English is a Must and An ordinary National Certificate qualification of an equivalent standard
awarded by
recognized bodies like NBAA, NACTE, IFM, etc, OR Certificate in Computer Science
recognized by NACTE or/and TCU OR Certificate in IT/CCNA (CISCO).
2: Diploma in Law
A. Direct Entry Requirements
A candidate must have a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or East Africa Certificate
of Education (EACE) ‘O’ level with at least three credit passes, English is a MUST.
OR
An Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) with subsidiary passes.
B .Equivalent Entry Requirements
O level certificate with four passes in which English is a must and a Certificate in Law with, at least, a
second class pass level
3: Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences (DMLS)
(a) Direct Entry requirements:
A candidate must have a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or East Africa Certificate
of Education (EACE) with credit passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology ,A-Level Certificate is an added
advantage.
N.B: Biology and Chemistry should be major subjects.
(b) Equivalent Qualifications:
The applicant should be a Medical Laboratory Assistant with at least 3 years of work experience and pass
a Special
Selection Examination set or recognized by RUCU e.g. the selection Examination of the
Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS).
4: Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences (DPS)
(a) Direct Entry requirements:
A candidate must have a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with three (3) credits in
Biology, Chemistry and Physics A-Level Certificate is an added advantage.
(b)Equivalent
The applicant should be a Pharmaceutical Assistant with at least 3 years of work experience and pass a
Special Selection Examination set by RUCO.
5: Diploma in Business Administration
(a) Direct Entry requirements:
A candidate must have a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or East Africa Certificate
of Education (EACE) ‘O’ level with at least three Credit passes including Bookkeeping or Commerce or
Mathematics or Geography or Chemistry or Physics, English is a Must.
OR
ii) Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination with one principal.
(b) Equivalent Qualifications:
An ordinary National Certificate qualification of an equivalent standard awarded by
recognized bodies
like NBAA, NACTE, IFM, etc OR Certificate in Business Administration and Form IV certificate with four passes
English must.
6: Diploma in Library and Information Studies (DLIS)
(a) Direct Entry requirements:
A candidate must have a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or East Africa Certificate
of Education (EACE) ‘O’ with Credit passes in three subjects at least English is a must.
OR
Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination with subsidiaries pass.

(b) Equivalent Qualifications:
The School Certificate of Secondary Education with at least four passes English is a must and A certificate
in Library or Business Administration or An ordinary National Certificate qualification of an equivalent
standard awarded by recognized bodies like NBAA, NACTE, IFM, etc.(with an average of a B pass).
II: CERTIFICATE PROGRAMMES
GENERAL ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
For all Certificate programmes one must have at least four passes (D) at O-level.
1: Certificate in Computer Science (CCS)
A candidate must have a Certificate of Secondary Education with at least four passes including
Mathematics or Geography or Chemistry or Physics, English is a must.
2: Certificate in Medical Laboratory Sciences (CMLS)
A candidate must have a Certificate of Secondary Education (O-Level) with four passes in Biology, Physics
and Chemistry, English is a must.
3. Certificate in Law (CLAW)
A candidate must have a Certificate of Secondary Education with at least four passes English is a must.
4. Certificate in Business Administration
A candidate must have a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (C.S.E.E) four passes subjects
including Bookkeeping or Commerce or Mathematics or Geography or Chemistry or Physics, English Must.
5. Certificate in Library Information Studies
A candidate must have a Certificate of Secondary Education with at least four passes English is a must.
V. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Forms for equivalent applicants, Diploma and Certificates should be obtained from the Admission Office
RUCU or from our website www.rucu.ac.tz .
Application Forms should be accompanied by a non-refundable fee of 20,000/= Tshs. or 20 USD for nonTanzanians through Account No.
