Second Announcement
The ISSCT XI Pathology & IX Entomology Workshops will be hosted by the Sugar
Research Foundation of Ecuador, FIADE and its Sugarcane Research Center of Ecuador,
CINCAE in Guayaquil-Ecuador, South America, from September 14-18, 2015.
The Workshops will be an exciting opportunity to discuss topics relating to sugar cane
research and development in sugar cane diseases, insects pest and their interactions as
well as plant resistance and preventive management. Participants are encouraged to
prepare abstracts for paper or poster presentations related to the theme of the
Workshops. The Organizers will do their utmost to ensure stimulating Workshops with
full scientific programmes as well as a friendly stay.

The Workshop will be conducted in English.
Workshop Format:
The scientific programme will comprise four workshop sessions, each of which will be
preceded by selected oral presentations. Posters will also be welcomed and encourage
to prepare a flash and dash poster presentation (Five minutes long & three slides each).
During the week of the workshops, there will be a field visit to the Sugarcane Research
Center of Ecuador (CINCAE). The Workshop is informal and therefore no proceedings
will be published. Abstracts of oral presentations and posters will be distributed to
participants at the Workshops and put on the ISSCT website. Abstracts of all
contributions (oral and poster) must be received by 30 April 2015.
Abstract guidelines
The authors for oral presentation and posters must submit a short abstract with no
more than 300 words. The title and the author names should be in capital letters
centered, followed by the institution information and contact e-mail; a list of keywords,
and the abstract text. The text format should be in times new roman with a 12 pt. size,
single line and justified. Because no proceedings are published, only the abstracts would
be available as a workshop book, and at the member’s corner website. If the author
agrees, some of the ¨PowerPont Shows¨ would be available at the ISSCT website. The
abstract for the Pathology and the Entomology sections should be submitted before the
deadline to the corresponding section chair (Please see contact information).

Registration fee:
The workshop registration fee is $300 USD dollars per participant.
Note: All participants must be ISSCT current members for the period 2013-2016. ISSCT
membership is $140 USD. Payment has to be done directly to the ISSCT before the

Different airlines arrive to Ecuador through USA, Brazil, Chile, Colombia (American,
Avianca, LAN, TAME), and Europe (KLM, IBERIA, LAN).
Tourism
Ecuador is in the middle of South America and there are numerous opportunities to visit
tourist places either in the country or other places in South America. Ecuador is located
in the middle of the world with a great biodiversity, a tropical rain forest and an
impressive landscape. At short distances there is access to beaches, the Andean
mountains, the Amazon rain forest lodges. There are several tours available to the
Galapagos Islands, one of the best places to admire how the evolution of species works.
