Mosaic Life Care on Sunday, February
1, 2015 in St. Joseph, at the age of 71.
arneta is survived by her husband,
Frank E. Howard Jr. of the home; a
daughter, Pamela Catron (Charles), of
Medford, wI; 2 sons, Clifford ashlock
(Joann), of Somis, Ca. and Frank E.
Howard, III of St. Joseph; 9 grandchildren, Felicia, Carson and Zander
Howard of St. Joseph, Brittany, Cody
and Michael ashlock and Matthew
Catron of Somis, Ca, Camie Lutz
(Chris), of Platte City, MO, and wesley
Catron of Medford, wI; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings include three sisters,
nancy ashlock of Phoenix, aZ,
Shelby Corf (Merle), of St. Joseph,
and Sandra Carter (david) of wichita,
KS; two brothers, Floyd ashlock
(Ginger), of Oregon, MO, and Gearold
“Tuffy” ashlock (Judy), of wellington,
CO; and numerous sister and brother in
laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
arneta Jane ashlock was born on
January 4, 1944 in Colorado Springs,
CO. to Gearold Bruff and Ella nadine
ashlock (Bloomfield). She graduated
from South Holt High School in 1962.
She then moved to St. Joseph. She
married Frank E. Howard Jr. on May
10, 1975. She worked some factory
jobs before she began working for
Tiffany Square as a housekeeper. Over
a period of time she became supervisor
over housekeeping retiring in 2005.
In addition to her parents, arneta was
preceded in death by a daughter, Stacy
Marie in infancy in 1971; two brothers,
Kenneth ashlock and donald ashlock;
a sister, Bonnie dean; and brother,
Charles Ivan in infancy.
The family has decided to have a celebration of her life later in the spring.

1949 - 2015 | age 65
Linda Howerton, 65, of St. Joseph,
passed away February 1, 2015, after a
courageous battle with cancer.
Linda was born on September 9, 1949
in Hamilton, MO. to the late Lindle and
Iona (Vantriece) Blakley. She grew up
in the new York, MO. area but spent
the majority of her adult life in St.
Joseph where she worked at various
places, most recently Terrible’s Casino.
Linda attended Turning Point Church
of the nazarene. She loved to go bowling and play bingo. She enjoyed her
large circle of friends that “took care of
each other” and were especially attentive to her during her illness.
In addition to her parents, Linda is

norman Blakley in 2009.
Surviving family includes her son

Leora norine Helfery-Boller-RoutonLohmeyer, 97, St. Joseph, passed away
Friday, February 6, 2015 at her daughter’s home, Gladys Fisher, in the presences of all her family.
Leora was born on november 26, 1917
in Gower, MO. to the late John and
Bessie (Mitchell) Helfery. She was also
preceded in death by her husbands,
Frank Boller, willie B. Routon and nor
man Lohmeyer; daughter, nadine
Leora Boller-Smith; granddaughter,
Penny Bernice Bowen-Littlejohn; sisters, Katherine amos, Lily Key and
Lucille nichols Riddle; brother, Henry
Helfery; sons-in-law, Steven Healey,
Johnnie Fisher, Harold Thomas and
Richard Smith.
Leora married Frank Boller on august
27, 1935 and together had 7 daughters.
Her marriage to william Routon took
place on June 29, 1956 and they had
one son.
She married norman
Lohmeyer on august 20, 1971.
Leora was a homemaker and owned
her own pie business. She also worked
at Standard Brands Inc. Glen Havens
Egg Farm, Shuster’s Farm. She also
made pies for Jerry anne’s Cafeteria.
She enjoyed playing Bingo, going to
the Casinos and embroidering quilts.
She is survived by six daughters,
Cleda Thomas, Betty Russell (Frank),
Gladys Fisher, Bernice Bowen
(Marvin), Pauline Redman (Gary),
Elizabeth Ellen Cline (Herbert); one
son, Ronald Bouton (BJ); one stepdaughter, Sherri Marshall; 20 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, many
great-great-grandchildren and nieces
and nephews.

at the Frazier Cemetery. Services under

Richard d. Oxford, Sr., 63, of St.
Joseph, passed away Thursday,
February 5, 2015 after a short battle
with cancer.
Rick was born on november 20, 1951
to Leo R. and Betty J. (Scofield)
Oxford.
He attended Central High School until
joining the air Force in March of 1970.
He attained the Rank of Sgt. and reenlisted serving two visits to Vietnam
before being discharged on March 22,
1975.
Rick loved to camp. He was also an
avid fisherman, catching several trophies to brag about. He was employed
for several years at John Collins
Service and lastly at Johnson Controls
as a high voltage welder.
Rick was preceded in death by his
wife, Stacy Oxford.
He is survived by his parents, two
sons, Richard d. Jr. and Christopher M.
Oxford; brother, Greg, sister, Joyce
Lynn and 3 grandchildren, Reagan,
Coleman and Carissa.

Lourene white “Lou” Pilgram, 85, St.
Joseph, passed away Sunday, February
8, 2015 at a healthcare facility.
She was born May 14, 1929 to david
and Elizabeth (wilson) white in
Kittanning, Pa. On august 18, 1956,
she married Henry w. Pilgram, who
survives of the home.
Mrs. Pilgram was a guidance counselor at dekalb High School for 15
years, retiring in 1994. Prior to that she
had taught secondary education in
Missouri, Kansas and Illinois and had
been a director of Christian education
in Galesburg, IL.
Mrs. Pilgram received her undergraduate education at allegheny College in
Meadville, Pa. and earned a graduate
degree at northwest Missouri State
university.
She was a member of ashland united
Methodist Church, where she was a
member of the Seekers Class,
Friendship Circle and Bell Tones. She
was a volunteer for the american Red
Cross and Habitat for Humanity. Mrs.
Pilgram was also a former member of
Missouri State Teachers association
and northwest Missouri School
Counselors.
Lou was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James white; and sister,
nancy Kurzman.
Survivors also include daughters,
Elizabeth Belcher (Mark), Kansas City,
MO, Mary Pilgram, Lawrence, KS, and
anne Ellis (Mark), St. Joseph; grandsons, Brad (Samantha) and austin
Belcher, david and andrew Ellis and
weston Pilgram; great-grandchildren,
Oliver and Paloma Belcher; sister, Jo
anne dzina (Richard); sister-in-law,
Elizabeth white; nieces and nephews.

norma Jeanne Pierce Courtney
Peacock, Maysville, MO., was born
april 13, 1926 to parents George Floyd
and Edna Burke Pierce passed away
January 26, 2015 at Sunset Home in
Maysville, MO at the age of 88 years.
norma graduated from union Star
High School. On august 7, 1943 she
was united in marriage to Virgil
Courtney and to this union four sons
were born, dean, Thomas, Greg, and
Marc. She and Virgil lived on the family farm near union Star, MO for 28
years. Virgil, a rural mail carrier, was
transferred to Stewartsville, MO in
1971. norma worked for several years
at Heartland Hospital. On retirement,
she and Virgil built a home in Mt. Ida,
arkansas and lived there till illness
brought them back home to family at
Stewartsville. Virgil preceded her in
death nov. 3, 1990. She married
Charles “Jack” Peacock august 24,
1992. Jack passed away august 29,
2007.
norma was known to be a very
“crafty” person and enjoyed quilting,
