Our annual spring recital is quickly approaching. We at Today’s Dance Center are planning another great show. Our theme this
year is “A Night at the Oscars” celebrating our 32nd Annual Spring Recital. Students, teachers and staff are working hard to
produce a performance that you and your child will always remember. Please hold this newsletter for future reference. It
contains important information for your child’s recital. You can also find this information at www.todaysdancecenter.com and
posted outside the main office.
This year we are planning three shorter shows 12:00pm, 3:00pm and 6:30pm. The 12:00pm and 3:00pm shows will be similar to
our past years shows, highlighting all classes throughout our programs. The 6:30pm show will include our Performance Groups;
Petite Dance Team, Intermediate Dance Team, Sr. Dance Team, Pre-Training Company, Pre Company, Company, Hip-Hop
Crew and our NEW Musical Theatre Workshop & Musical Theatre Workshop, Jr. It will also include our tracked ballet classes
& some C/D-Int/Adv classes. We hope that all of our recreational students will plan to come and support these dance groups &
training classes. (Based on availability, discounted student tickets will be offered closer to the recital for the 6:30pm show)

TICKETS: NEW this year…. Tickets will go on sale ON-LINE Saturday, April 18th at your family’s scheduled time at
www.tututix.com/todaysdancecenter. Times & codes for purchasing tickets will be emailed by April 1st or after depending on
the receipt of final tuition payment. Your code will be valid for your scheduled time & after however you can only use your code
one time so please make sure you have your ticket order complete at checkout. You will have up to 1 week to use your code, as
of April 25th, tickets will go on sale to the general public depending on availability. NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES OF
TICKETS. ALL ACCOUNTS MUST BE PAID IN FULL TO PURCHASE TICKETS. PLEASE DO NOT WAIT UNTIL
THE LAST MINUTE.
COSTUME DETAILS: Distribution will begin March 7th -13th. Please have parent/guardian present for notes for all younger
classes. A costume check-list will be provided for every costume. All tags must be cut carefully out of costume and your
dancer’s name must be on every item including costume, accessories, shoes, & tights. (i.e., on elastic band). Dancer’s should
not wear underpants under their costumes. We do suggest a flesh colored leotard for those dancers who are in more then one
number. They can come to the theater in their costume on dress rehearsal night only, but not on recital day. Petite Performers
are the only ones allowed in costume on performance day but must be covered by a long shirt/dress/jacket. Makeup should be
applied and completed at home for dress rehearsal and performances. Hair should be styled as directed by the director. All
dancers are required to have THEIR OWN HAIR, MAKEUP and ACCESSORY BAG with their name on it. All Ballet
performers must wear their hair securely fastened with a hairnet in a mid bun. NO BANGS, please. NO JEWELRY,
WATCHES, NAIL POLISH OR TATOOS.
RECITAL PICTURES: We have arranged for John Capone Photography to come to the studio on Sunday, March 22nd from
3:00 to 6:00 p.m. See the photo packages on attached flyer. The photographer will work by appointment. Please come to the
studio front desk, pick up and fill out your envelope and sign up for an appointment. You must select and pay for the package
when signing up for a photo appointment. Only cash or checks will be accepted. All checks should be payable to: “John
Capone Photography”. Pictures will be available for pick up at TDC in mid-July. No mail delivery is available for pictures.
RECITAL DVD: We have contracted Suzanne Hickey Videography again this year. You may purchase your DVD in advance
by using the attached order form. You may also order your DVD on the night of the recital or after. Cash, check, Master Card or
Visa will be accepted. All checks in the amount of $35.00 should be payable to: “Suzanne Hickey”. No mail delivery is
available for DVD’s.
THEATER PARKING: Parking is available at Lenape Regional High School – please park in designated parking areas. Please
do not park in driveways or on grass!!
DRESS REHEARSAL NIGHT: This will take place Thursday, May 14th at Lenape Regional High School, 235 Hartford
Rd., Medford. Everyone in show must participate. Please check the dress rehearsal schedule for your child’s scheduled time in
this packet or online. If you have a problem we need to know ASAP. Dress rehearsal will start promptly at 4:00pm. Please see
your child’s scheduled time. Parents may remain in the theater during the rehearsal period, but we ask that you sit in the balcony
section quietly. Each student is to sit with their class, which will be marked in the audience. After your child performs, you are
free to go or he/she may join you to watch the remainder of the rehearsal from the back section of the theater. NO FOOD OR
BEVERAGE is allowed in the theater. Dressing rooms will be available for those in more than one number. Please come with
make-up and hair in performance style. Everyone must report to the auditorium. Videos may be taken during Dress Rehearsal
only and in designated areas. Please NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY. No one is permitted in the front of the stage area.
LAST CLASS: The last day of classes will be Wednesday, May 13th.
SUMMER & FALL REGISTRATION: This summer we will continue to run our Wednesday Summer Programs, June 3rd through August
26th, in three sessions. Our popular Children’s Performing Arts Camp will run on Wednesdays, July 8th, 15th, 22nd & 29th from 9-12pm.
We will also offer weekly Themed Children’s Camps (FROZEN, ANGELINA BALLERINA & BROADWAY BABIES) as well as our
Intermediate/Advanced Level Camp the week of August 24-27. Fall Registration will begin on-line & by mail May 18th. In person registration
will begin June 3rd during summer office hours. Please see our website www.todaysdancecenter.com for our compete Summer and Fall
Class information. Please Note: There is NO SUMMER REGISTRATION FEE but ALL STUDENTS MUST RE-REGISTER FOR FALL
CLASSES.
PERFORMANCE DAY:. Only students should report to backstage in the dressing room/cafeteria to their assigned sections.
Younger students may be escorted/dropped off by a female adult, but please make drop off quick so little ones can prepare for their
performance. There will be supervision through out the entire program. PLEASE NOTE: NO MEN ARE PERMITTED
BACKSTAGE. A female staff member or volunteer will be happy to escort your dancer backstage & then meet you after the show if
you do not have a female family member or friend available at drop off/pick-up. Please set up prior to recital day with front desk so
we can assign someone to you. In case of emergency day of, please inform hallway guards & they will assist you.
PLEASE NOTE: NO ONE IS PERMITTED BACKSTAGE DURING THE PERFORMANCE OR DURING INTERMISSION
UNLESS THEY ARE ASSIGNED ROOM MOMS. NO PERFORMER IS ALLOWED IN THE AUDIENCE WITH OR WITHOUT
A COSTUME. All performers (with exception of Petite Performers I and Createabilities) are expected to stay until the finale and
report back to the dressing room. No flowers/gifts may be given on stage, but you may give flowers/gifts in the dressing room
following the show. Please help us out by following the rules so that the recital is a success for all.
NEW this year: We suggest that the dancers in 2-3 shows stay between the shows. We will offer water & soft pretzels to the dancers
so that they will be able to prep for their next show without delay. Also Dancers who are not in the 6:30pm show are encouraged to
come back and watch the show. Discounted student tickets will become available on-line closer to the performance date.
PLEASE NOTE: NO CHILD WILL BE EXCUSED BEFORE THE CONCLUSION OF THE SHOW, WITH
EXCEPTION OF PETITE PERFORMERS WHO MAY BE PICKED UP AFTER INTERMISSION WITH THEIR
WRITTEN CONSENT FORM. ANYONE ELSE THAT NEEDS TO BE EXCUSED WILL HAVE TO HAVE
WRITTEN PERMISSION FROM THE DIRECTOR AT LEAST 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO SHOW TIME.
IMPORTANT RULES TO REMEMBER & SHARE WITH FAMILY & FRIENDS ATTENDING THE RECITAL:
NO gum, food or beverage in the theater, backstage, or in dressing rooms. (Water only)
NO flash photography during the performance for safety reasons.
NO Videos-No bright lights for safety reasons. (Videos allowed during dress rehearsal in designated area only.)
NO parents backstage or in the dressing room during performance or intermission.
NO performing children allowed in the audience.
NO smoking, loud talking or running in the halls.
Every performer will report backstage to the cafeteria at their dance number coded table/section at Show #1 - 11:15 am, Show #2
– 2:15 pm, Show #3 – 5:45. Only one female guardian will escort and pick up child after the show. No men are permitted
backstage. Attendance will be taken in the dressing rooms. The backstage Dressing rooms will be marked as you come through
the theater’s main doors. In the event your child should become ill on performance day, please call the studio and leave a
message so we can inform the room mother, who takes attendance. This is extremely important! If we do not hear from you and
your child does not show up for their committed performances, they will not be eligible to register again at TDC. Parents and
students are reminded to check our website at www.todaysdancecenter.com and/or read the bulletin board on a regular basis to
keep posted on current information. Please follow rules & directions so this can be a positive experience for all involved. If you
have any further questions, please call the studio. Thank you for your cooperation.
ROOM MOTHERS: In striving to better the needs and safety of the students at TDC’s Annual Dance recital, we are once again
in need of Volunteer Room Mothers. The task of a room mother entails responsibility to all children in your assigned room.
(Hair, make-up, bathroom trips, etc.) 2 Room Mothers are needed for each recital dance in 12 pm and 3 pm shows only. No
Room moms will be needed for the 6:30 pm show. Room mom assignments are on first come, first serve basis and we also ask
that you be willing to work at a table other than your child’s. If you are granted your first choice we ask that you be willing to
help all children at your assigned table and not just your own.
*Under no circumstances are children to be left unsupervised
*No more than 2 room mothers are to leave the table/section at one time
To sign up to be a room mom, please email or stop by the front desk by March 25th. Again room mom assignments are first
come, first serve basis. Once we have enough room moms, the log will be closed & room mom assignments will be posted in the
main office by the last week in March.
The continued success of our annual recital is very important to us at TDC. Without the help of YOU, the dedicated room
mothers, we couldn’t do what we do. A brief mandatory meeting will take place during Tech Week, where instructions and
backstage badges will be picked up. No one will be permitted to stay backstage without a badge. Thank you!

We have some very exciting news this year! As mentioned in our newsletter, we are working
with a company called TutuTix to make it easier for you to get recital tickets! Gone are the days
of coming to the studio, waiting in line, and spending your valuable time purchasing tickets.
Now, you’ll be able to do it from the convenience of your own home, office, or wherever you are
at your family’s scheduled time.
Tickets will go “on sale” on April 18th, 2015 at the scheduled time for your family. Individual
family times & codes for purchasing tickets will be emailed by April 1st or on receipt of your final
tuition payment. Your code will be valid for your time slot and after however you can only use
your code one time so please make sure you have your ticket order complete for all shows at
