REC: Do not perform early tracheostomy if the only reason is VAP prevention. © 2008 TMIT 87 Kinetic Beds • Immobility is associated with increased VAP. – Kinetic beds employ rotational therapy to prevent and treat respiratory complications. • Meta-analysis of kinetic beds Æ decreased VAP. – No effect on ventilator days, ICU days, or mortality.
