s r o i n Se l a v i t fes 2015 kmc.nsw.gov.au/seniors 1 Mayor’s message Welcome to this year’s Seniors Festival in Ku-ring-gai! Through this booklet I’m delighted to once again introduce to you a month of activities, workshops, walks and talks that celebrate everything good about being an older resident in Ku-ring-gai. NSW Seniors Week is traditionally celebrated during the third week of March but we have decided to extend the celebrations throughout the whole month. Many of the activities on offer are either free or low-cost and we invite you and your friends to book early to be sure that you don’t miss out. The opening event is the Senior’s Mayoral Awards recognising older residents who have made a significant contribution to our community. It’s always difficult for us to choose the award winners and this year has been no exception. Congratulations and thank you to all the winners and those who were nominated. Other highlights of Ku-ring-gai’s Seniors Festival include lunch in The Rocks and tickets to the Premier’s Seniors Concert; a lunchtime cruise of Sydney Harbour; ‘come and try’ sessions at the Ku-ring-gai Fitness & Aquatic Centre; a garden party and a harvest festival, line-dancing, tai chi and much more! In all we are hosting over 30 events, guaranteed to cater for all tastes and interests. Thank you to all the organisations and community groups who are supporting the event, in particular Event Cinemas which is offering a free movie screening at the Macquarie Centre Ryde. I hope you enjoy our Seniors Festival this year! .
