Hagan Arena, the men of our parish are invited to
join Catholic men from throughout the Archdiocese for the 7th Annual Men’s Spirituality Conference.
Speakers include Dr. Scott Hahn, author of Rome
Sweet Home, Gus Lloyd, Catholic radio host,
Devin Schadt, from Catholic Answers, and Jim
Longon, member of the Papal Foundation. The
Sacrament of Reconciliation will be offered, and
the Conference will conclude with Mass celebrated

Our Garage Sale—April 11th &
12th
Creating the Future
Marriage is meant to be fertile and to welcome new
life. Children shape the future, just as they themselves are shaped in their families. Without children,
there can be no future. Children reared with love and
guidance are the foundation for a loving future.
Wounded children portend a wounded future. Families are the bedrock for all larger communities. Families are domestic churches, places where parents
help children discover that God loves them and has a
plan for each child’s life.
Marriage gives spiritual context to the possibilities created by biology
Marriage includes love, loyalty, and commitment.
But so do many other worthy relationships. Marriage
is something distinct. Marriage is the covenant built
on the procreative power of male and female. Our
biology poses certain limits and possibilities and
marriage is one answer for living this situation in holiness.
We will treat the other answer—celibacy—in the
next chapter We will discuss challenges to the idea
of fertility in marriage, challenges which arise from
the questions of contraceptive marriage and same-sex
relationships in Chapter 7. In this section we need to
discuss how married love integrates the fertility of
men and women with the sacrament of God’s covenant.
We’re hoping that you’ll donate lots of
“gems” to our Garage Sale. Selling jewelry contributes greatly to the success of
the sale. Please gather some to donate.

Marriage is a response to the possibility of procreation between men and women. When a man and a
woman marry by taking the additional step of freely
consenting to mutual promises of fidelity and permanence, marriage places procreation in the context of
human dignity and freedom. The marital vows are
analogous to God’s covenant with Israel and the
Church. Marriage, as the Church teaches, is “the matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the
whole of life and which is ordered by its nature to the
good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring, has been raised by Christ the Lord
to the dignity of a sacrament between the baptized.
In short, marriage is a community of both life and
love.

IHN families visit

The families appreciated all the generosity of food and
hospitality from our
parish.
We even had an anonymous drop off of delicious
donuts and coffee! What a treat!
