Second Collection this Weekend
The fundamental mission of Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary is the formation of Catholic men for pastoral service in the Priesthood of Jesus Christ. The Seminary is committed to providing a unified college and theology program of formation in priestly spirituality, pastoral ministry, celibate witness, emotional maturity, intellectual integrity, and physical wellness.
Formation towards the ministerial Priesthood
centers on the Word of God and the Sacraments of the
Church; most especially Eucharist and Reconciliation.
This is complemented by personal and community prayer, a comprehensive academic program of liberal arts
and theological studies, and a program of pastoral preparation designed primarily for parochial ministry.
The Seminary recognizes the diverse challenges
of our time and promotes in the seminarian a commitment to work in unity with others in the Church with a
pastoral sensitivity that is exercised in fidelity to the
Magisterium of the Church. Saint Charles Borromeo
Seminary provides an atmosphere that fosters and ensures a thorough process of formation, so that the man
called to the Priesthood by God will have a strong priestly identity, a desire to serve, and a love for the people of
God.
Thank you for your generous support of Saint
Charles Seminary.

LITTLE CHURCH SCHOOL
50th Anniversary
During 10:30 am Mass
In the Parish Life Center
Parish Mission
Our Family
Little Church School is
a program held during
the 10:30 am Mass for
3 year olds through kindergarten. The children
gather in the Life Center to hear a child's version of the day's Gospel followed by a hands-on activity to further their learning. This gives the children
an opportunity to focus in an age appropriate setting while their parents and older siblings gather at Mass.

CREATED FOR JOY
Jesus reveals our human identity
and destiny
Jesus reveals who God is, including that God loves
us and reaches out to us. But Jesus also reveals
what it means to be human. The Second Vatican
Council, speaking of Jesus as the “Word” of God,
taught, “The truth is that only in the mystery of the
incarnate Word does the mystery of man take on
light.” In Jesus Christ, we learn things about ourselves that are true, which we could not invent, and
which we would not otherwise know. As the Bible
puts it, “your life is hidden with Christ.” Catholics
believe that God so loves the world (Jn 3:16), that
rather than leave us in confusion, God took human
flesh to disclose who God is and who we are. The
Second Vatican Council explains:
The root reason for human dignity lies in
man’s call to communion with God. From
the very circumstance of his origin, man
is already invited to converse with God.
For man would not exist were he not
created by God’s love and constantly preserved by it; and he cannot live fully according to truth unless he freely acknowledges that love and devotes Himself to
his Creator.
As Pope Benedict XVI stressed at the last World
Meeting of Families, in Milan in 2012, “It is love
that makes the human person the authentic image
of the Blessed Trinity, [the] image of God.”

Life after Death
The “image of God” phrase comes from Genesis.
It suggests that each individual person is precious,
with unique and irreducible dignity. The image of
God abides in us, no matter what we do to obscure
it.
“Do you believe in life after death?” the boss asked
one of his employees.
“Yes, sir,” the employee replied.
“Well, then, that makes everything just fine,” the boss
went on.
“After you left early yesterday to go to your Grandmother’s funeral, she stopped in to see you!”
