Spring 2015 V i l lage life Live.Play.Gather. Spring is calling. Common Loon, Christopher Martin Photography A harbinger of spring in the Northwoods, the loon has an uncanny ability to return to the lake within hours of ice out. Its graceful presence and sweet, melodic call is a comforting reminder that another winter has passed, and spring begins again. It’s in our nature to get out and play With over 20 special events already being planned for the spring months and many volunteer opportunities, there are lots of ways to get involved in the life of the village. Get the dates on your calendars now so you don’t miss any of the fun. Events get ready to wet a line The Wisconsin Fishing Opener is May 2. Nine of our 11 lakes enjoy healthy populations of Large Mouth Bass, Northern Pike and Pan Fish. For details on which lakes have fishing piers and boating docks, lake size and depth, and the fish population, visit VoyagerVillage.com/recreation/lakes. Check out our growing list of meetings and events on page 4. Bring your children and grandchildren to our wonderful Easter Egg Hunt and make your reservations for Easter and Mother’s Day Buffet. Save the date for our Spring Fling. Recreation Take advantage of our pristine lakes, private beaches, championship and par 3 golf courses and miles of trails. There are so many ways to recreate in the great outdoors! Family Fun Our Mini-Golf Course and children’s playgrounds are a hit with young families. And don’t let the rainy days get you down. Just head to our Fitness Center and Pool to burn off some energy. Plus, we’re cooking up all kinds of fun and great food at the Grill. Look inside for all the details. READ ABOUT Our new member discounts in the Grill (page 5) and on the golf course (page 8). As we prepare for The Season, I want to thank you for all you do to help Voyager Village grow and thrive. Your patronage of the Grill; use of our fitness center and pool; enjoyment of our trails, courts, beaches and lakes; promotion of our real estate, and yes, your generous volunteerism, is the key to our success. A Note from Steve A quarterly letter from management Steve Johnson As the sun’s angle shortens and the days lengthen, our snow and ice-covered Northwoods community transforms itself into a recreational mecca with blue, fish-filled lakes, green grass, budding trees and brightly colored flowers. Our staff springs into action to prepare our beaches, lakes, courses, courts, grounds and buildings for your enjoyment. But we couldn’t do it without you, our members. Last year, 45 of you showed up to volunteer for our golf course clean up. With rakes, blowers and a willingness to help, you turned a major clean up task into a great community event. My golf course superintendent colleagues are envious. Let’s make 2015 our best year ever! Voyager Village Directory 715-259-3910 x 14 From Phyl’s Point of View A quarterly letter from your POA Board President, Phyl Hames Spring is filled with promise and possibility. It is the perfect metaphor for how our Board is feeling. Here’s why. Community Manager: After an extensive search we found and hired a community manager who possesses all the skills we were looking for, and she happens to live in Deer Path. Jennifer Johnson stepped into the Phyl Hames Community Manager role at the beginning of the month. Please give her a warm welcome. Learn more about Jennifer at Jennifer Johnson VoyagerVillage.com/news. Strategic Plan: We are developing a Five Year Strategic Plan. The plan will identify organizational goals and outline the steps we need to take to achieve them. We’ll be solicting member input and hope to complete the plan by the end of the calendar year. Finance Committee: We are establishing a three to five person committee of members with financial expertise to review and advise us on our budget process, land holdings and development, maintenance priorities and other financial areas of our business. If you are interested in serving on this committee contact Linda Nordstrom at [email protected] Welcome Committee: This group is developing an orientation and welcome program that will introduce new members to our myriad activities and amenities and solicit their involvement. Watch for upcoming social events. Grill Promotions: We are introducing new ways for members to get great deals at The Grill. We hope these added perks will attract more business.
