Specialist: Risk Management Based in National Office (Pretoria) Ref: 150203 Legal Services Remuneration: A competitive salary package with benefits Reporting to the General Manager: Corporate Governance, Secretariat, Legal and Compliance the incumbent’s role and responsibility shall include the following: The South African Local Government Association (SALGA) is the single national representative body for local government. SALGA has repositioned itself as a knowledge centre and point of first call for assistance and guidance by all municipalities. A new organisational strategy has been developed in order to drive a credible and dynamic agenda for municipalities. This strategy advocates for a differentiated approach to servicing the needs of municipalities, enabling SALGA to remain a relevant and credible association. It is in this context that SALGA is looking for exceptional, talented individuals to join it in this trajectory of a repositioned organization that is at the epicentre of the transformation agenda for local government in a proactive and collaborative way within the Intergovernmentalrelations system. Key Performance Areas ■Ensure the organization’s risk management policies and strategies are in compliance with applicable regulations ■ Promoting and implementing the risk strategy by enhancing the level of awareness within SALGA ■ Providing guidance on the management of risks ■ Facilitates the risk assessments ■ Maintains SALGA’s risk registers ■ Monitors and analyzes risks across SALGA and reports on these risks to the EMT, Audit Committee and NEC ■ Provide senior management with practical recommendations for the risk improvement ■ Management of data repositories allowing for the maintenance and updating of strategic , business and operational risks ■ Interacting with the internal auditors and the other business units managers ■ Provides key inputs into the committee that oversees the enterprise risk management process and ensures alignment with organizational objectives ■ Coordinating the business continuity planning activities of SALGA Qualifications and experience ■Applications must be in possession of a Degree in Risk Management / Commerce / Accounting / Auditing or equiv al ent ■Experience in control self-assessment (CSA) ■ Member of Institute of Risk Management. ■ A minimum of six years relevant working experience, of which three years must be at management level ■ A valid code 08 driver’s license and own vehicle Core knowledge, skills and behaviour ■Understanding of the Local Government environment ■Knowledge of PFMA and Treasury Regulations ■ Report writing ■ Project Management ■ Good Communication and presentation skills ■ Project Management skills ■ Computer Literacy ■People development ■ Strong interpersonal skills ■ Analytical skills ■Presentation and Facilitation skills ■ Planning and organizing Skills ■ Client orientated ■Good Interpersonal skills ■ Conflict resolution Suitably qualified and experienced candidates must submit a comprehensive curriculum vitae and certified copies of qualifications, ID and Drivers Licence in application for this permanent position to: Human Communications at Fax: 086 539 2489, Email: [email protected] CLOSING DATE: 06 March 2015 (please quote the relevant reference number in the subject line) NOTE: Communication will be limited to short-listed candidates only.
