Vol. 28 No. 26 RNI No.54695 / 87 Reg. No. G/MH/MR/NMB/98/15-17., 28 Feb 2015 to 06 Mar 2015 Pages 12, Rs. 1
NMMC may
adopt green
rating system
The Energy and Resources
Institute (TERI) has tabled a
proposal before NMMC for
adopting Green Rating for
Integrated Habitat Assessment
(GRIHA) rating. Civic
commissioner, D T Waghmare
said, "We will look into the
proposal. I am planning to
introduce a third party audit
system for effective monitoring
of norms, as laid down under the
General Development Control
Regulations (GDCR)." The audit
will ensure that occupants have
followed all measures while
obtaining the occupancy
certificate and also to avail
facilities proposed by the civic
body. The GDCR already have
provisions for solar water heating
system, rain water harvesting and
recycled water for bigger
complexes. But buildings under
GRIHA rating have to adhere to
an entire gamut of green norms
starting with site selection to
optimal use of natural resources
and a third party audit system
done every three to five years.
This system will come handy for
new structures to be constructed
while redeveloping old Cidco
buildings.
