WESTERN CAPE RACING PIGEON CONFEDERATION: COMMUNICATION NOTE 1 of 2015 Dear Racing Pigeon fancier and supporter This Communication note is the 1st of this year and the Provincial Committee wishes all pigeon fanciers and organisations in the Province all of the best for the year. We would also like to thank all the main Unions and Federations for their cooperation in making the Western Cape Classic Race a reality and we are looking forward to this very special event. The first meeting of the Western Cape Racing Pigeon Confederation took place on Tuesday 3 February at the Durbanville Rugby Club. The main issues on the Agenda included: • The final arrangements regarding the first AGM of the WCRPC that will take place on 21 March 2015 at the NRHU Hall. All Unions and Federations in the Province are urgently requested to appoint the allocated number of representatives eligible for the second term of the WCRPC. It is vital that we have good attendance and representation from all organisations to ensure that the Provincial Confederation is regarded as legitimate by our fanciers and the Western Cape Sport Confederation. All interested pigeon fanciers are invited to attend! • It was confirmed that the WCRPC applied for Interim Membership to the Western Cape Sport Confederation and Mr Elton Davies, Vice-Chairperson, confirmed receipt of the application. We expect to engage with the WCSC this year on important issues and will agree on priorities for 2015. The WCRPC confirmed the importance of the development of the Constitution of the WCRPC over the next period as an important priority. All Unions and Federations affiliate with the WCRPC will be thoroughly consulted on the draft Constitution and this matter will also be addressed at the AGM. Mr Erwin Wallendorf is leading this initiative. • The WCRPC is at present planning the development of a Code of Conduct as well as Norms and Standards for racing pigeons in the Western Cape and nationally. All fanciers will be consulted and further information will follow and Christo de Coning is facilitating this exercise. • The Work Committee on the Combined race under the Leadership of Randy Engelbrecht is continuing their planning arrangements for the Western Cape Classic Race to be flown from Hanover on 12 September 2015. We look forward to seeing you at the AGM and to engage with you on the future of our sport.
