‘CM AWARE OF BJP PLAN OF
MEAGRE ALLOCATION TO AP’
Nehru says Naidu mortgaged Telugus’ self-respect to BJP leadership
OUR BUREAU
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) vice-president Devineni Rajasekhar Nehru
on Sunday came down heavily on
the ruling TDP for promoting lift irrigation project on River Godavari
at Pattiseema.
Addressing a news conference at
Andhra Rathna Bhavan here, Nehru
alleged that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was aware of the
Central government’s plans to give
just Rs 100 crore for the prestigious
Polavaram Project, which was announced as the national project. He
said that the Chief Minister and his
party had promised to complete the
project in just four years and wondered how the government would
complete the project with meager
allocation of funds.
He alleged that Chandrababu
Naidu was aware of the BJP’s plans
of minimum allocation of funds.

the raw deal meted out to AP State in the Union Budget for 2015-16
Nehru criticised Chandrababu
Naidu for starting the Pattiseema lift
irrigation scheme with Rs 1,300
crore instead of mounting pressure
on the government to start the work
on the Polavarm Project. He alleged
that the State was losing the
Polavaram Project because of the
Pattiseema lift irrigation scheme.
He said that the Congress would
launch State-wide agitation to get
the Polavaram project. The party
would also fight against the State
government’s plans on the Pat-
tiseema.
He demanded that the government to withdraw the Pattiseema
project and begin efforts for the
Polavaram project.
He lamented that Chief Minister
Chandrababu Naidu had pledged
the self-respect of the Telugu people
to the BJP leadership in Delhi. He
dared Chandrababu Naidu to fight
for these issues in Delhi and asserted that the Congress and the
Left parties would support the government to get the promises fulfilled.
Stating that the TDP was founded
by NTR to protect the self-respect
of the Telugu people, he wondered
why Chandrababu Naidu was now
begging on the streets of Delhi.
The Congress leader came down
heavily on the State and the Central
governments for nominal fund allocations to the State in the Central
budget. He said that the budget did
not reflect the promises made by the
Congress and the BJP to the State
at the time of passing the AP Reorganisation Bill 2014. He said that the
Congress would expose both the
TDP and the BJP on their dual talk
on promises to the State. The Central government institutions, revenue deficit to the State and the capital building, besides according
special category status were to be
realized, he said and added that the
Congress would fight for these.
City Congress president Malladi
Vishnu, Krishna district Congress
president Kadiyala Butchi Babu,
party senior leaders N Narasimha
Rao, A Srinivas Kumar, P Rajiv
Ratan, Kolanukonda Sivaji, Youth

conference.

for its failure to allocate due funds
for the State in the Union budget.
