Bulletin - St. Christopher Parish

MARCH 7 & 8, 2015 THIRD SUNDAY OF LENT
MASS INTENTIONS
A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear Friends in Christ,
SATURDAY, MARCH 7, 2015
Won’t we all be happy when this frightful winter is
finally over? I hope you are bearing up under it, and if the
weatherman is right, you should be reading this on a fairly
nice day. Let’s hope it’s the beginning of many.
SUNDAY, MARCH 8, 2015
This week I want to bring a few things to your attention. The first is a call to all of our parishioners of Italian or
Italian American backgrounds. On Sunday, April 19th at 2
p.m. Father Franco Pezzotta, parish priest of the town of
Montecilfone in the Campobasso region of Italy, will be
celebrating a Mass for the people from his village who now
make America their home. The patron saint of their town is
St. George whose feast day is the 23rd of April. All parishioners are welcome at the Mass which will be celebrated in
the Italian language. Antonio and Grace Carafa of our parish are coordinating this event, and I look forward to welcoming Don Franco and the former inhabitants of Montecilfone who now live in the USA as they celebrate their village
feast in honor of San Giorgio.
Next weekend you will find leaflets at the doors of
the Church which include the prayers of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. Through the generosity of a parishioner who
wishes to remain anonymous, these leaflets are being
made available to you for your private devotion.
Dan Donovan, the new Grand Knight of the Mother
Katharine Drexel Council, will be holding a recruiting drive
for the Knights in two weeks. Members of the Council will
be at the doors of the Church at that time to answer questions and to encourage membership. The Knights of Columbus are a wonderful charitable organization. They have
served the Church in many ways. The Katharine Drexel
Council was originally founded by members of our parish.
While not limited to parish members, it is a very worthwhile
group and I hope the men of the parish will give some consideration to joining.
Finally, I hope your observance of Lent has been
going well. If the weather improves and daylight saving time
makes it easier for you, our 6:30 p.m. Mass on weekday
evenings would be a great way of keeping this holy season.
Thank you for all you do for our parish. Your faithfulness is
edifying and your loyalty to our parish is very much appreciated.
Sincerely in Christ,
