Uniform Policy
All students must be in uniform
each day. Navy blue bottoms,
appropriate uniform shirt as well
as uniform sweater and/or
jacket. Solid navy blue jacket/
sweater may be used. Please
remember to put your child’s
name on all sweaters, jackets and
sweatshirts.
Advisory Meeting
The next Advisory Board meeting
for East, West & Central will be
on April 7, 2015 at 6:00pm at the
Central Campus. You will receive
service hours for attending.
Arrival/Dismissal
PPCS is committed to providing
students an education in a safe
and secure learning environment.
Please know that for school safety, children are not to arrive at
school prior to 8:15 am or to
remain on school grounds after
3:45 pm. The school has a supervised before and after school
child care program for students
who need to be dropped off or
picked up earlier or later than the
times listed above.
Pembroke Pines Celebrations
The annual Taste of Pines will be
held Thursday, April 16th from
6-9pm at Southwest Focal Point
Community Center. Tickets are
available at each campus.
Pines Day will be held on April 18,
2015 complete with a Pines Day
Parade, Kids Konnection Business
Expo, Pageants, a cake-cutting ceremony, free concerts and a fireworks
show. A family fun day you won't
want to miss! Please visit

AMC Math Competition
The following PPCMS Central Campus students attended and competed
in a regional AMC Math Competition held at Florida Atlantic University on 11/22/14:

Chiquito, Naveen Farook, Bhanuteja
Madhu, Neha Mathew, Faizan Mohammad, Sebastian Quintana, Grace
Rodriguez, Rafael Sabino, Saaketh
Vedantam, Surya Vedula, and Kevin
Yeung.
Our students had a great showing at
this event. Jacob Briggs and Kevin
Yeung were awarded Broze certificates. Saaketh Vedantam was tied
for 2nd place overall and was awarded a Gold certificate. A special
thank you to Mr. Verdile and Mr.
Walker for their efforts in helping to
prepare and sponsor this math team
for the competition.
Central Knowledge Bowl
The Central Campus 7th and 8th
graders participated in our First
Annual Knowledge Bowl during the
week of 2/23/15. Thank you to our
Social Studies teachers for their
efforts in preparing our students for
this event. Seventh grader, Rafael
Sabino and 8th grader Joseph Poon
will move on to Dillard High School
and compete at the Broward County Knowledge Bowl. We are confident they will represent the Central
Campus very well! Congratualtions
to Rafael and Joseph and best of luck
in the upcoming competition!
West Campus Talent Show
West Campus, “A Night of Stars”
boasted over 350 audience members
who were at hand to enjoy talents
from singing and dancing to magic
and speed art. The judging panel
composed of Mrs. Barry, Mrs. Lebron, Mrs. Lesmes, Mrs. Morales, Mr.
Mahoney, and Mrs. Reynolds, had
the difficult task of selecting the top
three from a field of talented jaguars!
In the end the top honors went to
eighth grader Antonella Lalinde for
her incredible performance of
"Popular" from the Broadway show
"Wicked." Second place went
to eighth grader Chloe Gardner,
who sang and played the piano to
her own original song "Picture Perfect" and third place went to sixth
grader McKenzie Henry for her
rendition of Sam Smith's "I'm Not
the Only One."
We have a school filled with amazing
talent. Our students worked extremely hard to put on a tremendous show both on stage and back
stage. Thank you to all who came
out to support our students!
West Science Fair Winners
West Campus students participated
in the Broward County Science Fair.

Central SGA and Builders Club
PPCMS Central Campus raised over
$1400 for the Leukemia and Lym-
phoma Society through Olive Garden’s Pasta for Pennies program. The
program was co-sponsored by the
SGA and Builders Club. Mrs. Touhy’s class raised over $375 and won
the Gold Pennant as well as the
Olive Garden pasta party! Thanks
to Ms. Spencer and Ms. Franco for
their efforts with this project!!
Important Parent Meeting
There is a meeting for parents of
Central 8th grade students who will
be attending the Washington DC
field trip. The meeting will be held
on March 12th at 6:30 pm in the
Central Middle Café. This meeting
will address many of the questions
and concerns you may have in preparing your child for this trip.
West Band Teacher Honored
Mrs. Dayna Cole is the recipient of
the prestigious Oliver Hobbs Award
from the Florida Bandmasters Association for a consistently exceptional
job year after year in the position of
band director. Only 3 other band
directors in the state of Florida have
received this award this year!
West Drama
West Campus Drama Club students
gave two amazing performances on
February 27th & 28th at the Walter
C. Young Auditorium to a full house!
Director and playwright, Mr. Daryl
Mahoney, praised the cast for an
outstanding performance. A portion
of the proceeds from the play went
to the Kevin Garcia Foundation,
which helps at risk children and
teenagers overcome economic
barriers so they can achieve healthier, more productive lives. We are
so proud of Mrs. Cole!
Lady JAGS Volleyball
The Lady JAGS Volleyball team
represented themselves and our
school very well this season. They
defeated Indian Ridge in the 1st
round of playoffs and again in the
playoff game to make it to the semifinals against Falcon Cove. They had
a strong 1st game and competed
strong in the 2nd and 3rd games to
end the season. We are so proud of
our girls for the teamwork and skills
shown this season. Thanks to
Coaches Moss, Maestu, and Masterpalo for their joint efforts in
helping to support and lead the girls
this season!
