About the Seminar
Pharmaceuticals is one sector where innovation has a
dramatic impact on not only on the health and wellness of
millions of people but also on the companies that provide
it. Breakthroughs and innovations in providing drug
molecules to therapeutics to satisfy the insatiable appetite
of society, investors and patients for their quest for better
pharmaceutical care are critical factors for innovations.
Investing in research and development to develop new
drugs is thus an important part of innovation, but it's far
from the whole story. In the current era it's getting more
difficult to develop new drugs, but it appears that there's
still plenty of hope for the future in areas like personalized
medicine and the application of genomics that will play a
key role in fostering innovations in pharmaceutical
research.
The objective of this national seminar therefore is to shed
light on the innovation process in pharmaceuticals by
calling attention to some critical intangible factors that
don't always get sufficient attention. We are thus
expecting discussion on a thought process and the
innovative measures taken in getting a molecule through
various stages of drug development process right from
planning to implementation involving preclinical and
clinical studies citing the journey of some novel molecules
or class of molecules.
