Sasko Park Lodge residents prepare for move
Exactly a year to the day that the residents of Newmarket Manor made their official move into the newly
constructed cottages at Newmarket Place, the residents of Sasko Park Lodge will be making their permanent
move into the newly renovated wings of the former Newmarket Manor.
Renovations to Newmarket Manor began in March of 2014 and were completed in February 2015. Following
decommissioning, cleaning and staff orientation, the residents of Sasko Park Lodge will be making the permanent
move to their new surroundings on Tuesday, March 17th.
Residents of Sasko Park Lodge will begin relocating at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17th. With the help of family,
staff, and numerous volunteers, all residents are expected to be moved into their new surroundings within three
hours. “It will be a group effort,” explained Ronda Donald, Newmarket Manor/Sasko Park Lodge Facility
Administrator. “We will be making a few trips across town to move all of our new residents and plan to enjoy an
Irish stew lunch with them, their families and all of the volunteers at noon.”
“On behalf of Kelsey Trail Health Region, I wish to express our sincere appreciation to everyone who has made a
donation toward the equipment and furnishings for Newmarket Place,” stated KTHR CEO Shane Merriman. “In
particular, I would like to acknowledge the extremely generous $410,000 bequest from the estate of the late Lorne
& Gizella Carson and the $140,000 donation from the Tisdale Trust Committee.”
“We are very excited to finally have all of our long term care residents and staff in Tisdale under one roof at
Newmarket Place,” Merriman added. “We will be planning a grand opening complete with tours of the new
facility in early summer.”
KTHR continues to accept donations toward the furnishings and equipment in Newmarket Place. All donors will
receive formal recognition for their contribution on a donor wall on permanent display in the facility as well as a
tax deductible receipt. Donations are accepted at Tisdale Hospital, Newmarket Place or KTHR Regional Office.
They can also be mailed to Newmarket Place Equipment & Furnishings, c/o Kelsey Trail Health Region, Box
1780, Tisdale, SK S0E 1T0.
