From Fr. Tony
As the snow melts and the brown and dirty grass gives
way to the fresh green new life that awaits, so too do we
experience a similar change in our lives as well. The
image of this butterfly reminds us of what not only takes
place in nature but also what should take place in our
hearts. Just like the new life of the monarch butterfly that
springs forth from a dormant cocoon, so too does new life
spring forth with the celebration of Easter.
Jesus suffered a painful death, and for some of us, this
Lent is painful as well (i.e. fasting, praying, and
almsgiving). Although our suffering is nothing compared
to the suffering that he accepted, we too are called to
participate in it. For with death, comes new life. Christ’s
glorious resurrection is a wonderful reminder to us of His
conquering of sin and death, of His great love, and of His
invitation to come to Him with our
suffering and pain. All of us have
experienced suffering at one point in our
lives. Some of us have experienced it
through death of a loved one. Others
experienced suffering through a loss of a job or a struggle
with our current jobs or schoolwork. Others have
experienced suffering within family relationships. While
others experience suffering with changes that take place in
our lives. One example of change, the priests from the
region decided to offer only three reconciliation service in
different parts of our region. Instead of several services
throughout the region, like we had one at St. Anne’s and
Our Lady of Victory, it was decided that we will have only
one for our area (see schedule). However, I will be
offering several individual confessions also. Because we
have only one priest for our area (compared to two last
year), other changes can also be seen on the Holy Triduum
schedule. Our Worship/Spiritual Life Committee will
evaluate and revisit these times and places next year.
Being on the Diocesan Committee on Parishes, I also
see and hear a lot of changes will be happening over the
next couple of months and years (i.e. cutting of Masses,
merging of parishes, combining and sharing job positions,
etc.). Our parishes will experience a lot of pain because it
means change. Sadly, it is another reminder of our priest
shortage and people shortage. That is why we need to
continue to pray for more priests and to evangelize our
faith to get people to come back to Church or to join our
Church. However, with death comes new life, and I pray
that we too may experience new life from these changes.
May God give us the strength to accept suffering, to offer
it to Him, and to receive the new life that He shares with
us. Therefore, when we suffer, may we turn to Christ who
is the Resurrection and the Life.

Results are in! St. Anne’s School students raised
$10,680 through the Catholic United Financial Raffle,
exceeding the $8000 goal. The prize drawing will be held
on Thursday, March 19. Thank you and good luck in the
drawing to all those who purchased a ticket. A portion of
these funds will be used to equip classrooms with audio
systems. The top selling students were Emma K. Salfer
and Lainey Plaetz. The 6th grade class sold the most
tickets per student and will enjoy a pizza party sponsored
by the CUF. Thank you again for your continued support.
First Annual Capital Campaign Dinner Planned
Mark your calendars for Sunday, April 19, when the
first annual Capital Campaign Dinner, “Building Together
for God’s Children”, will take place. The purpose of the
campaign is to raise funds for capital expenditures relating
to school building maintenance and improvements. Three
improvements have been targeted: building accessibility
improvements, bathroom renovations, and re-tuckpointing of exterior masonry.
“Wild, Wild West” is the theme so shine up your boots
and buckles, saddle on up and ride out for a rootin’tootin’ good time. A prime rib dinner with all the fixin’s
will be served alongside a little hootin’ and hollerin’
entertainment, followed by both a silent and live auction.
The roundup will be held at the Wabasso Community
Center with social hour beginning at 5:30 pm. Tickets can
be purchased for $75 per person by givin’ us a holler at the
school office - 507-342-5389. If you are not able to attend
but are interested in supporting our cause, consider making
a contribution to the silent or live auction. St. Anne’s has
nurtured thousands of children in their faith and academics
throughout the years. Through this annual campaign, we
hope to ensure that thousands more may have the
opportunity to “Enter to learn Christ, and Exit to serve
Christ”.

participants. They will be serving a free will supper at
St. Anne's each Wed. at 6:15 p.m. during Lent before
Stations of the Cross which will be at 7 p.m. This weeks'

First Communion meeting for parents and students
will be on Sunday, March 15 at 1:00 in the St. Anne's
school meeting room.
Matthew Kelly, well known Catholic speaker, will
be in Marshall on June 7 from 4-8 pm. Matthew Kelly is
the author of many books including Rediscover
Catholicism and The Four Signs of a Dynamic
Catholic. We've also had several CD's available in the
Lighthouse collections that are in the back of each parish
which some of you may have listened to. Matthew Kelly
is also one of the authors of the confirmation program,
Decision Point, which is being used in our cluster and the
speaker in the DVD used at the First Reconciliation
meeting. Tickets are $39 and are now available at
dynamiccatholic.com. If you are interested in buying

The Heart of Love. Make a list of at least ten people

SPRING 40 DAYS FOR LIFE CAMPAIGN
THE BEGINNING TO THE END OF ABORTION
Please consider making the 2015 Spring 40 Days For
Life Campaign from Feb. 18 through March 29, 2015 a
part of your Lenten experience. The 40 Days For Life
Campaign is firmly rooted on a foundation of prayer and
fasting. We fervently believe that prayer and fasting will
end abortion and your prayers will be very much needed
and appreciated.
With each campaign, God continues to answer our
prayers by saving babies and closing abortion facilities.
Since 40 Days For Life Campaigns began in 2007, 9699
babies have been saved from abortion, 107 abortion
workers have quit, and 60 abortion facilities have closed.
Locations in MN to pray outside of an abortion facility
during this Spring campaign are in Robbinsdale, Rochester
and St. Cloud, and in SD, Sioux Falls.

WAFER the local Food Shelf is participating in the
MN FoodShare March Campaign a program of the Greater
Minneapolis Council of Churches to fight hunger. We are
asking congregations in this area to join in the effort
around the theme “Be the Hero, Fight Hunger.”
Donations of cash can be mailed to WAFER, P.O. Box 63,
Wabasso, MN 56293. Food donations can be taken to the
food shelf when it is open or there may be a box in the
back of your church to deposit nonperishable food. The
food shelf is open every Thursday morning from 9:3011:30 a.m. and the first Thursday of the month from 5:00
to 7:00 p.m.
San Lucas Fundraiser: The St. John Paul II Area
Faith Mission Group invites you to their annual Wine
Tasting, Dinner and Silent Auction on Saturday, March 21
at the Crow River Winery east of Hutchinson. This year

Lucan Lions invite everyone to their Annual
Scrambled Egg & Ham Breakfast on Sunday, March 22

 FACT OR FICTION? Every woman who belongs to St. Anne’s Church is a member of St. Anne’s
CCW? This is a fact! Yes, ladies, every one of you is a member of the CCW. There is no “I’ll let you
know when I want to join” clause in the By Laws. You automatically become a member of the CCW
when you become a member of the parish. So what’s the big deal? Well, the CCW participates in
charitable projects to help others: Mission of Love, Scholarship Bake Sale, Share the Spirit, serve funeral
dinners, Mission lunch, quilts for the needy and scholarships for local members to name a few.
If you as a member cannot give your time to help with any of these acts of charity, then perhaps you
can give your $15 yearly membership dues. We are not asking for much, but we cannot be viable if we
don’t have income! So far, only 33% of our members have paid their dues. In comparison our Honorary
members have paid 63% of their dues. St. Anne’s CCW is challenging you to get your dues paid and
match our Honorary members percentage. Thank You

***Please be on time. If you can’t work your appointed time please get a substitute or exchange with someone. There is a sub list in the back of church or
there are teens that would be willing to work for you. CCW has set a price at $20.00 for hiring a substitute for general cleaning. Your spouse may clean for
you. If you are unable to work at your scheduled time, you may clean on your own time and leave a note as to what you have cleaned.
