BUSINESS CHALLENGES
In today’s competitive business environment, there is a continuous drive to improve
productivity. Organizations are containing costs by limiting travel and restricting
hiring, but they are facing pressure to enable a mobile and flexible workforce and
increase the speed of business.
To satisfy customer demands, employees in the field need immediate access to
information to address customer issues. Checking email and voicemail and tracking
down subject matter experts to resolve customer problems are significant drains on
time and productivity.
Unifying enterprise communication technologies, such as email, instant messaging,
conferencing presence, voice, and video, can greatly improve productivity—not just in
terms of internal communications, but also in external communications with
customers and partners. Implementing a Unified Communications (UC) architecture
that enables realtime communication and improved collaboration brings immediate
benefits to the business.
SERVICE DESCRIPTION
The EMC® Unified Communications Service enables enterprises to create a highly
available communications infrastructure that supports improved collaboration and
productivity. This service provides a holistic solution that encompasses core UC
technologies—Microsoft® Lync™ Server 2013, Microsoft Exchange Server 2013,
Microsoft Office 365, and Microsoft Active Directory. The EMC Unified Communications
Service offers a proven methodology executed in four stages.
Discovery and Assessment
Our teams start with requirements gathering and an assessment of your current
environment. This in-depth assessment reviews your existing Microsoft infrastructure,
determines what is required to support the new UC solution, and gathers
requirements from a representative cross-section of business stakeholders.
Architecture and Design
Next, we develop a messaging architecture adapted for your environment and a
detailed deployment plan with specific project timeframes. EMC consultants build a
proof of concept, construct the tools and processes needed to migrate to Unified
Communications, and create training and support plans.
Construction and Implementation Planning
In this phase, we develop a comprehensive testing and validation plan to address both
technical and procedural areas that support ongoing operations as the migration and
any related infrastructure consolidation occur. A core infrastructure build-out and pilot
migrations precede the move to a full production environment to further reduce risk
and align with your requirements.
SERVICE OVERVIEW

expertise, experience, and necessary tools to ensure a successful, cost-effective
migration.
