Helen Shaw PUBLICITY Aileen Fabris, the new member who volunteered to do publicity for the club (and did a good job for the January meeting) is not able to continue. I have had to do this for February and March. I feel I have enough to do with the newsletter, trying to organize Who Am I ʼs, making sure all pictures are cropped for the newsletter, editing the newsletter submissions, taking or submitting all photos for the photo gallery on the website etc. I am looking for a new volunteer to look after publicity. The minimum that should be done each month is to send an e-mail to the pqnews and oceanside star the week prior to the meeting so it can appear on their announcements page. There is more could be done if time and energy permitted. PLEASE consider doing this for the club. Contact me for further details [email protected], 752-6809. Everyone had positive remarks about the evening. Judy Wood Page 5 WHO ARE WE Peter was born in England and spent his first five years growing up in Argentina. His family then immigrated to Canada where he resided in various locations within BC. He is the eldest of a blended family, having eight siblings. Peter attended BCIT where he obtained his trades tickets in refrigeration and power engineering. He spent thirty-one years working at the University of British Columbia in building operations. He has one daughter residing in Burnaby who works as a chef. I was born in Chemainus, later attending the University of Victoria to obtain a Bachelor in Social Work focused on counseling, community development, and social policy. During this time I married a bush pilot and had one daughter. I worked for the Greater Victoria Hospital Society and took a leave to obtain an MSW at McGill University where I focused on family therapy, health and social policy, and administration. My daughter and I moved from Victoria to Langley in 1991. I obtained a Certificate in Strategic Leadership from the UBC Sauder School of Business and completed the coursework required for certification with the Coaches Training Institute. I continued to work in health care in clinical, administrative and planning roles in acute care, mental health, and home and community care. Other work experience included overseeing the health and counseling services at Simon Fraser University, working part-time in private practice as a counselor, and teaching in the Social Work program at the University of the Fraser Valley. I also worked as a fitness instructor for five years ‘in my spare time’. Page 6 Peter and I met in 2007, both working at university campuses in the Lower Mainland, and married in 2009. We both early retired within a year of each other and relocated to Vancouver Island to reside in Errington in May of 2014. We are busy with our 2.8 acre hobby farm - home to three horses, three dogs, five cats, and a talkative cockatoo! Both of us enjoy cycling, hiking, reading, traveling, theatre and eating out, as well as cooking together at home. We have just purchased ATVs, to assist on the farm and to enjoy recreationally. I also enjoy riding my horses, gardening, and playing the piano and singing, having studied music for many years. Eager to embark on a creative pursuit, I am in the process of taking courses to metalsmith and design jewelry. We are Pam & Peter Vickars Editor: Mike Bluett Email: [email protected] Page 7
