13 March 2015 The European Banking Federation (EBF) is seeking to recruit to a full time position, a Senior Policy Adviser who will be responsible for building consensus and developing policy positions, designing and delivering lobbying strategy, and coordinating members' actions. Working with and lobbying the European institutions to achieve an appropriate regulatory and supervisory framework in the EU. RESPONSIBILITIES Within the EBF Business Finance team, specific focus will lie on the financing of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, and trade and export finance. This would involve providing the Secretariat to, and contributing to the further development of, the relevant EBF Committee/Working Group in the field of finance for industry and international trade, as well as anticipating regulatory developments, EBF position-building and advocacy work. In this area, topics covered will include: - EU policy towards stimulating longer term financing for the European economy; - Capital Markets Union; - Programmes of the European Investment Bank; - Policy developments in the context of the OECD Arrangement on Export Credits; - Market conditions for the financing of trade, short and longer term; - Regulatory issues affecting banks’ financing of the economy. In that context, under the EBF Business Finance Committee, key responsibilities are: • Contributing to the development of the Committee’s work programme and focus, including the specific work-streams and ongoing management of the secretariat for the Export Credit Working Group; • Drafting and delivery of positions / responses to consultations on relevant legislation, according to the above job description, and supporting, where necessary, the communication of EBF’s messages in the area of finance for industry and international trade; • Ongoing direct contacts with policy makers in the area of finance for the economy (e.g. the European Commission and European Parliament; the EBA, EIB and ECB; and the OECD). Maintaining the EBF relationship with such institutions as “partner of choice”. PROFILE The successful candidate will have at least 5 years relevant experience of industry financing or banking issues and (preferably also in) EU public affairs. In addition, the candidate should: • hold a university degree in finance, law or political sciences; • have an excellent understanding of the EU decision making process.
