German Delegation to Zimbabwe

German Delegation to Zimbabwe
-Mining and Mineral Resources20 - 23 April 2015
Background
Zimbabwe is one of the most resourcerich countries in Africa. In addition to
platinum, gold, chromium, coal, nickel
and diamonds Zimbabwe has many other
commodities. The platinum and diamond
resources are among the second highest
in the world. On the African level,
Zimbabwe is one of the countries with
the most significant gold reserves.
Despite the troubled investment climate,
there are opportunities in mining and raw
materials for German companies. In
particular, there are vast trade
possibilities regarding products and
services, due to about 40% of all
machines and materials still have to be
imported.

About the delegation
The planned delegation aims to provide German companies an insight into the challenging
but promising market of Zimbabwe. Through appointments, company visits and corporate
on-site discussions, the participants receive necessary industry and market contacts and
corresponding detailed information. The local counterparts are mainly mining companies
and other organisations, but also associations, government departments and chambers of
commerce.
Organisation
The trip is organized by the Competence Centre for Mineral Resources of the Southern
African – German Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The work of the Competence
Centre is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. The
German Engineering Federation (VDMA) acts as a partner for the project.
Participation
The trip is addressed to German companies across the entire value chain of the industry.
However, in light of the economic potential of Zimbabwe, participation might focus on
organisations in the area of machinery and plant engineering, the service sector and
financing.
A participation fee of 325.00 € (14% VAT included) per participating company will be
charged. In addition, participants carry their individual travel expenses (flight,
transportation, accommodation, meals). Some of these are paid by the SA - German
Chamber during the trip and then allocated to the participants.
Registration deadline: We kindly ask to register until 20 March 2015.
