gifts for their family, brought home wrapped and ready to be put under the tree. The students had so much fun buying a gift 27 Bible Day that was a total surprise, and in turn the profits went toward May 30 High School Graduation making blessing boxes. filled with snacks, cards, letters, and games. Mrs. Bowlus’ brother-in-law is the chaplain and was able to directly distribute them. Part of a thank you letter from the soldiers reads “We have been indeed supplied with protection and assured accomplishment in providing calm to West Africa, as well as helping to contain the Ebola virus through building Ebola Treatment Units, training hundreds of health care workers, moving supplies, for non-governmental organizations and for missionary physicians, as well as helping the nation of Liberia get information out to its people in the deepest of jungles. We have indeed been successful in keeping America, and the world for that matter, a safer place.

During the Lower Campus' spirit week leading up to Christmas break, the school hosted a Birthday Party for Jesus! The day started out with a great chapel filled with the joyful music of the season, a meaningful message about the true meaning of Christmas, a book collection for the children at St. Vincent's and Wood County Hospitals, and culminated with a surprise ice cream party at lunch! Through the generous donations from our students and families, we were able to collect over 250 books to dis-
perse. Wow, what a blessing of books for kids in the hospital. Nice work students! “Your every act should be done with love.” 1 Cor. 16:14
What an amazing scripture tucked in 1 Corinthians. How do we live up to not only showing “love” but where our every act is done with love? I realize that it is impossible to live this way apart from a daily walk with God. It is through His power in our lives that we are enabled to live beyond our selfish ways and lay down our lives for one another. One of the goals at BG Christian for our students is to show love by serving others. Throughout the year we have multiple service projects and fundraisers for charities. Students learn how to love through their service and giving to others. Developing their character is critical in teaching them about Christ’s love and ultimately laying down His life for us. In a culture that is me-centered what a wonderful opportunity to open the eyes of our students to the needs of others as they learn a little about sacrificial love.

Kristen (Kuehner) Bickford
Now a pharmacist, Kristen says that BG Christian Academy gave her an academic advantage and so much more.
She attended the Academy from kindergarten through 8th grade, and enjoyed band, basketball, and cheerleading while here. “BG Christian formed a really good foundation” for her she said, giving her what she needed to attend a public high school. While at BG High School she enjoyed soccer, band, and swimming before graduating in 2007 with a 3.8 GPA. Kristen went on to attend the University of Toledo, earning both a BSPS (bachelor of science in pharmaceutical sciences, 3.88 GPA) and PharmD (Doctor of pharmacy, 3.9 GPA) degree with a minor in chemistry. Reflecting back on her days at BG Christian Kristen says the biggest thing she remembers was the 8th grade trip to Peek and Peak in New York and Chicago. “We spent a couple days in each place. It was a lot of fun. The experience of getting to see new places and experience new things, skiing and snow boarding with my friends was great.” Thinking about her teachers she recalled how Mrs. Judson did a great job, and was really patient with them. “I enjoyed her classes.”
Currently a pharmacist at Rite Aid in Bowling Green, she says about her work: “It’s good. It’s tough. I have to make a lot of decisions. There’s a lot of morality in this profession.” She is required to have good judgment around drugs all day. “BG Christian helped build character in all of us. It has really helped me in college and now in my career to make the right decisions.”
Kristen’s older brother and younger sister attended BG Christian as well. Her parents Bob and Laurie Kuehner still live in Bowling Green. Kristen resides in Perrysburg with her husband, Chris, and their two dogs Bella and Buddy.
Congratulations to the BG Christian Academy Lego League who competed recently in a regional match against 31 other teams from northwest Ohio. The competition consisted of four categories — a project presentation, robotic design and programming, core values, and a robot competition. The team of Laurel Bruhl, Joshua Bruhl, Matthew Bowlus, Matthew Fyfe, Jarret Baldonado, Tyler Barnhart, and Preston Pinson qualified to move on to the district competition which was held in Dayton on Jan 10th and 11th.
