Shabbat HaChodesh – Parshat Tzav
BIG TIME SHABBAT
Shabbat HaGadol D’rasha
Please join us this Shabbat at 5:45pm for Rabbi Septimus’ Shabbat HaGadol D’rasha, entitled,
Embracing Jihad.
Note to the Department of Homeland Security: The aforementioned shiur will in no way
condone religious violence. The inflammatory title aims to draw maximum attendance for
a sophisticated and moderate Torah treatment of a vexing contemporary challenge.
Selling Your Chametz and Giving Maot Chittin
Rabbi Septimus will be available for sale of chametz following the 7:45am Shacharit minyan
and the weekday Mincha/Ma’ariv minyan, as well as at his home, 718 Sherwood Street, on:
(1) Sunday, March 29th: 8:45am – 10:30am; (2) Sunday, March 29th: 8:45pm – 10:15pm; (3)
Wednesday, April 1st: 8:45pm – 10:15pm. At that time, Maot Chittin, made out to the YINW,
can also be given to Rabbi Septimus. If none of these times work, please contact Rabbi
Septimus directly to set up an appointment. Completed forms can also be emailed to the
rabbi or dropped off in his mailbox; however, you must receive direct confirmation of
receipt from Rabbi Septimus.
Please note that the latest time for eating chametz on Friday, April 3rd is 10:26am; the latest
time for owning chametz is 11:40am. Garbage trucks will be parked, starting at 7:00am in
front of: Temple Hillel, YIW and the Lawrence and Cedarhurst Railroad Stations. People can
bring their chametz to the Lawrence and Woodmere Fire Stations to burn their chametz.
Mazal Tov
Mazal Tov to our dear members, Rena and Eli Dworetsky, upon the birth of a baby boy to their
beloved children, Shoshie and Rabbi Asher Dworetsky this morning. Mazal Tov to big brother,
Izzy, and the entire family. The bris will IY”H take place at the Young Israel of Woodmere, 859
Peninsula Blvd., on Sunday, March 29th. Davening at 9:15am and Bris to follow.
Shabbat Hagadol Big Shots Kiddush
Our Chasanim from way back on Simchat Torah are ready to party once again, giving us
a Kiddush worthy of their crowns. Mazal Tov once again to Scott Taub, Vadim Kern, Avner
Vider and Mordechai Gampel. Kiddush is sponsored by their families in their honor.
Gala Seudah Shlishit
All are invited to shul this Shabbat afternoon—after mincha and the Rabbi’s Shabbat HaGadol
Drasha—to partake in a copiously catered seudah shlishit including pareve (sushi, fish) and
meat selections, as well as desserts.
Seudah Shlishit is sponsored by the Teitelbaum family in commemoration of the yahrzeits
of Robert’s father, Moshe Dovid Ben Yisrael Teitelbaum, a”h, mother, Sabrina Teitelbaum, a”h,
Penina’s father, Rabbi Melvin Bernstein, a”h, and Robert’s great aunt and uncle, Rabbi Pesach
and Chaya Safranski, a”h.
Ad It Up
Mazal Tov to the recently announced Honorees at the YINW’s 31st Annual Journal Dinner:
Tamara and Mitch Haviv, Sheila and Barry Feirstein, and Rochelle and Scott Taub. You
know the drill by now. You are going. You will have a good time (or at the very least not a
bad time). Whether you commit now or later, we will find you, and you will submit to our
overwhelming will! And it’s the right thing to do. And it’s a good thing to do. So, jump in
early. Show your love and support for our shul in this most meaningful way. You should
have received your Journal Ad Blanks this week. Make your reservations please by emailing
[email protected] TODAY!

Aviv, the Israel Festival in Jerusalem, the Childhood Sounds Festival in Holon, Red Sea Jazz
Festival in Eilat, the Jerusalem Light Festival and the Acre Festival of Alternative Israeli Theater.
Completely free of charge are the Old City Knights in Jerusalem and Rehovot International
