Classes are Wednesday from 1-3 pm. Quilting Class- Learn how to quilt with Ms. Thelma Johnson every Wednesday from 8:30 11:30 am. Supply list will be available at the front desk for anyone interested in quilting; there is a $5.00 fee each week for quilting patterns and fabric. Games and Activities Bingo- Join us as we play for prizes, April 14th, 20th and 28th at 11 a.m. Sponsored Bingo- Beacon Hospice will sponsor Bingo on April 10th at 11 am. Modified Baseball- Join us for a friendly competition playing this fun indoor modified version of baseball April 7th at 11am, April 20th at 10am and April 27th at 11am. Tally Hoop- A game is where you throw disc into a hoop to see who get the most in the net. April 1st at 11am, April 9th at 11am, April 17th and 22nd at 10 am and April 30th at 11am. Bean Bag Toss- A game where players take turns tossing four bean bags toward the far platform. For instance, a player from one team tosses his or her bags, and then his opponent tosses their bags to see who can score the most points. April 8th and 16th at 10am, April 23rd and 29th at 11am. Wii Games- Join us in playing some active and fun games on the Wii such as bowling and tennis. April 6th, 14th at 10 am, and 21st at 11 am. Board Games- Join us for free play with various board games and cards. April 24th at 11 am. EASTER “GUESS HOW MANY” CONTEST: Stop by the lobby, and put in your best guess as to how many items are in the two jars on display. (One guess per member per jar please.) The person who guesses closest to the actual number will win that jar of items, plus a one-pound solid chocolate Easter Bunny! Deadline to Enter is by noon on April 2nd. Winner will be announced immediately after contest ends on April 2nd . Around the House JINGO- JINGO reinforces word and picture recognition and encourages good listening skills. April 17th at 11 am. Birthday Celebration If you are a member of the center and have a birthday in April please make sure the Activity Coordinator, Lindsey Huff has your name and birthdate and Come join us April 17th at 12 pm for a birthday celebration. Groups/Seminars / Special Opportunities St. George Prayer Network- Meets each Thursday of the month from 3:30-4:30 pm. Praise and Worship- Come and enjoy insprational praise and songs with Mrs Brenda Mack and Samella Odom April 13th at 11am. Bible Study- Bible class meets each Thursday from 10am-12 pm. Remember to bring your Bible. Education Chair Travel- Come join us us for our fantasy trip to South Dakota on April 28th at 10:00 am. We will take a ride from our chairs as we travel and experience life in South Dakota. Book Mobile - Come and Explore the book mobile on April 7th and 28th from 10:30- 11:30 am. Sit and Fit- Join us for a DVD class doing exercises from a seated position. April 10th, 13th,21st ,and 27th at 10am. Nutrition Program - April 6th at 10:00 a.m. with Gayle Williford It’s your Health Take Charge – April 7th at 10am Shorus E Manning, from the SNAP program will talk about My Plate and how many food groups we need, portion sizes and how much fats and sugar are in the foods we eat. Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon Dorchester Senior, Inc. will be honoring our 2014 Volunteers with an Appreciation Luncheon on April 24th. See Carla if you do not receive your invitation by March 31, 2015. We welcome volunteers. There are many areas where volunteers would be able to assist with programs and services such as packaging or delivering meals to the homebound members, assisting with activities at the center, teaching classes and conduct individual workshops to share your talents and expertise.
