Steve Compton is a social activist, environmentalist, and psychotherapist who
sings in several musical organizations. Steve and the Fellowship were born in
the same year in Greenville, SC.
Shelton Love received his degree in Organ Performance from Bob Jones University
and is currently the accompanist for both the Pride of Greenville men’s
chorus and the Pride of Greenville women’s chorus.
Odell Lomax has been coming to GUUF for over two years and joined a year ago.
He graduated from public school in the early 60’s and lived in New York City
for almost 50 years. Odell moved back to Greenville in 2012.
Mae Tromsness, daughter of Jayce and Anne, enjoys writing, visual arts, theater,
reading and science. She wants to be a writer and educator and is passionate
about equality.
Griff Griffith grew up in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He retired in 2006 to run for U.S.
congress, a losing endeavor. Today he enjoys golf, music, education/teaching,
being on the water and the preservation of our precious civil liberties and will
be relocating to Beaufort, SC later this year.
Tracey Tucker is currently the Youth Justice Advocate with the ACLU of South
Carolina and working to unite individuals and organizations in a campaign to
combat the school to prison pipeline and other juvenile justice issues in our
state.
Candy Kern-Fuller resides in Anderson, SC. She graduated from the University of
South Carolina’s School of Law, and a member (past and present) of several
societies and teams. She served two terms as the State Coordinator of the
National Organization for Women (NOW), two terms on the National Board of
NOW, and two terms on the State Board of the American Civil Liberties Union
(ACLU). She met her husband, Richard Fuller, in 1989 at a pro-choice rally in
Cleveland Park while he was serving as the State Coordinator of NOW.



Easter and Resurrection Around the World

Expect stories and hope from both outside and inside the Christian
tradition. With the dogwoods in bloom, we have to bet on hope, joy,
awe-stricken ecstasy at spring whether we believe in resurrection or
not.
Getting to Know You!
Please join us after service for coffee, snacks, and fellowship in the
Fellowship Hall at the opposite end of the building from the Sanctuary (on
the same floor); all are welcome. We look forward to getting to know you
better, even if you think we already know you pretty well.

We celebrate with:
I am home from Vermont… where it never went above 20 degrees and
we had two snowstorms. My eldest daughter (Amber) passed her
qualifying exams (three written, one oral) for her doctorate at UC Santa
Cruz and is now making plans to move east to Brooklyn. It will be the
first time in eight years that she has lived in the same time zone as me!
My youngest daughter (Rachel) is feeling very happy and is seriously
considering a return to living in Greenville… she will be back Mother’s
Day weekend – Deborah Armstrong.

every Sunday for coffee and lively discussions of topics of interest, with the
third Sunday of the month devoted to short story readings and discussions.

Twelve essays from Unitarian Universalist reflect on the importance of
relational connectedness. How might we grow our souls through our
connections with one another and with the Holy? Participants have
opportunities to discuss and to engage with their own thoughts about
becoming part of something that both includes us and transcends us.

New Class Forming - PRACTICAL MYSTICISM
Facilitated by Wes Tower
First and third Sundays through May, 9:45-10:45 am
Conference Room
This class is a shared exploration of mystical views and practices from
wisdom traditions around the world. Participants will explore the practices
and shared beliefs of different paths, as well as learn esoteric lore and
meditation techniques with real-world applications. Come walk a sturdy
bridge between science and faith! Wes Tower has been learning and
practicing Shamanism for 14 years. He is also a student of Shiatsu, Tai Chi,
Kempo Karate, Anatomy and Physiology, Linguistics, and Theology.
OUR COVENANT CIRCLE MINISTRY
Covenant Circles are the backbone ministry of our Fellowship, and we
encourage everyone to get involved. Without any doubt, this is the single
best way to get connected, make friends, and deepen your spirit in this
congregation. And you don’t need to wait to join a covenant circle. We
have several openings in groups that meet on Monday, Tuesday and
Wednesday evenings as well as in our Wednesday daytime group.

EASTER FUNDAY
On Sunday, April 4, we’ll have special Easter
arts and crafts in the Fellowship Hall and on
the Patio, followed by an Egg Hunt on the front lawn after service.
Parents will need to pick up their kids at 12, right after service, because
we can’t begin the egg hunt until everyone arrives.

SAVE THE DATE! – SHALOMFEST, APRIL 12, 1-3 pm
Meet in lower parking lot next to the playground by 12:30.
All 4th-5th graders, and their families, are invited to
Shalomfest, the annual Jewish Festival at the Temple of Israel. Lots of
workshops, activities and delicious food. Entry and $5 lunch is paid for class
members and teachers.
THE LUNCH BUNCH
The Lunch Bunch will meet on the third Thursday of each month at
12:30 pm. This month we will meet on April 16.
If you are not already part of our group, you are most welcome to join us for
great food, lively conversation and occasional special activities.
I will call you a few days before the event, as usual, to find out what you are
planning to bring. It should be enough to feed 6-8 people (no more).

MEMBERSHIP SUNDAY
Membership Sunday takes place on the first Sunday of every oddnumbered month immediately following the service. Anyone wishing to

the book,” and we will share stories of our spiritual journeys. You will also

Please join us for a wine and cheese reception, presentation, crafts, jewelry
and clothing.
Sarah comes from the Center for Development in
Central America (CDCA), the Nicaraguan project of the
non-profit, faith-based organization, the Jubilee House Community (JHC).
Before moving to Nicaragua in 1994, the JHC operated shelters for the
homeless and battered women in Statesville, NC.
For more than two decades, the CDCA continues to respond to human
needs created by poverty in the second poorest nation in the western
hemisphere. The CDCA focuses on justice now, helping communities
become self-sufficient, sustainable, democratic entities, specifically in the
areas of:
• sustainable economic development
• organic agriculture
• appropriate technology
• education and health care
Sarah says, "The CDCA has been called to work with, and
speak on behalf of, the poor in our area of Nicaragua, and to
share their lives and stories with folk in the U.S., to bridge the
gap between us and our neighbors." Tax-deductible
donations and proceeds from craft sales go to the operating
expenses of the project.

 When you were looking for a place to belong, what would have
happened had the Fellowship not been here?
 When you were lost and looking for a home, what would have
happened had the Fellowship not been here?
 When you were new to the area, how many friends would you have
made had the Fellowship not been here?
Would Gil Rowland ever have imagined that our Fellowship would flourish to
the congregation of today? We may have started small, but look at us now!
Imagine, if you will, what would happen if there were no financial
commitments to the Fellowship. If people like you had not made the financial
commitment to make sure that our Fellowship kept growing, we wouldn’t be
where we are today. This year, make that COMMITMENT! Make a
COMMITMENT that will fit your budget. If your circumstances change at any
point, don’t worry, just tell us, BUT DO MAKE THE COMMITMENT TODAY!
