We extend our loving support to:
Light a candle in memory of Linda Turner’s mother who passed away
on 01/13 in Minnesota. Linda is making her way back to Greenville
now. Hold up Linda in her time of sorrow – Donna Goethe.
Light a candle for Cliff Beck. He expects/hopes to be going home on
01/23. He says Rolling Green Rehab is treating him well, but there’s
nothing better than your own bed! – Sabrina Wilkes.
I light a candle of love and gratitude to all my friends in this Fellowship
as I struggle to adjust to a new way of life – Hilda Howerton.
We celebrate with:
It’s hard to put into words the gratitude I feel for the 80+ volunteers
who helped make GAIHN Week a success. Our families were housed
and fed; and the children were entertained. They all expressed
appreciation for our help. Every volunteer was important, but I wish to
express special thanks to several people who went beyond the call of
duty and some spent hours making sure things went smoothly. They
are Liz McGrory, Dave Wilder, Bill Schulze and Bob Hoelzel – Jean
Blank.

Twelve essays from Unitarian Universalist leaders give voice to a new focus on
spiritual work in congregations from individual identity to relational
connectedness. Through personal stories and thoughtful reflections, the
contributors describe how we might grow our souls through our connections with
one another and with the Holy.
THE CLASS IS LIMITED TO 20 PARTICIPANTS
To register, please contact Michelle at [email protected].
Several copies of the book are still available. Cost is $15. Please
contact Kathleen Anderson to order. ([email protected])
GUUF GOES GREEN – RECYCLE!
Place clean paper, plastic, and cans in recycle bins in the
Fellowship Hall. No need to separate them.
GREEN COMMITTEE MEETING – 12:30 pm February 1, in
the Conference Room. Come help us draw up recommendations for the
board on green alternatives to address fire ants, mosquitoes, yellow
jackets and weeds on our nine acres. Help us maintain our UUA-certified
Green Sanctuary status. Questions? Email [email protected].
SOUPERBOWL SUNDAY – FEBRUARY 1!
Mmmm...is there anything better than soup or chili on
a Sunday afternoon before the Superbowl? The senior
high youth and Coming of Age youth will be providing a
delicious lunch in our new Fellowship Hall (woo hoo!) for
you to enjoy February 1st at 12:15 pm. Homemade chilis and soups, salad
and drinks, as well as yummy desserts, will be available for only $6
donation for adults and $3 donation for kids. Wow! What a deal! This is a
great chance to spend some time with each other as well as “break-in” the
new hall. Please email [email protected] or call Kat Carrig at 320-1675
with any questions. All proceeds will go towards the Coming of Age trip to
Boston and mission trips for senior high teens.
HOW TO RECOGNIZE A VISITOR
Do you want to say a friendly “hello” to one of our
visitors, but you didn’t get a good look at them during
the service? Maybe you can’t discern between someone
you haven’t had the opportunity to meet yet and a
visitor. Never fear, the green mugs are here!
The Membership Committee has purchased lime green coffee mugs for
visitors to use in the Fellowship Hall after Sunday services. When you see
folks with green mugs, please introduce yourself and make them feel
welcome. We want our visitors to stick out so that we can, in the words of
our illustrious Pat Jobe, “slather them with affection.” Well, perhaps we
can’t get away with quite the slathering that Pat can, but we’ll make a
valiant effort!
Look for a high top table in the Fellowship Hall containing a large
“Welcome Visitors” sign, the green coffee mugs, the Flame, and literature
about Unitarian Universalism. The table will be manned after the service by
one of our Membership Committee volunteers.
Visitors – Please look for the high top table and use these green mugs for
several visits so we have the opportunity to get to know you!

Unitarian Universalist congregations affirm and
promote:







The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual
growth in our congregations;
A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
The right of conscience and the use of the democratic
process within our congregations and in society at large;
The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice
