AHA! - March/April 2015 - Manchester Artists Association

Manchester Artist Association
www.ManchesterArtistsAssoc.com
Dear MAA member,
March/April 2015
Member Meeting ~ March 2, 2015; 7pm
Bedford Library, 3 Meetinghouse Road, Bedford, NH
All meetings are held the first Monday of the month unless it falls on a holiday i.e., Labor Day. When this occurs we
meet on the following week. If for any reason, we need to cancel a meeting due to inclement weather we will post it on
our website: http://www.manchesterartists.com.
Message from the President…
Hello MAA members!
I hope everyone has remained safe with all these winter storms. With that,
please visit our site to see if our monthly meeting has been canceled due to
inclement weather. The safety of our members is very important. In the
event we need to cancel the meeting, individuals that won Artist of the Month
may keep their work up until the meeting has been rescheduled, or the next
month’s meeting whichever occurs first.
There’s a lot going on behind the scenes with changes to our operation. The
biggest news is the proposed changes to our By-Laws. I hope to get these
approved by the board and off to the membership for final approval soon.
No changes can occur without the approval of our membership. ALL
business meetings are open to members. I encourage membership
participation at meetings especially when we are discussing changes to our
operation.
I’m also looking for a volunteer to help with coordinating shows as we are growing. Exposure is vital to our success.
People need to know we are here. The best way to do that is to show a presence at shows, as well as host our own. If
you have suggestions for shows we should participate in, locations, please contact me directly.
We are also looking at ways to save on our expenses. As a business, we need to operate with a budget. It’s how we
know where we’re going. I have requested proposed budgets from each of our posts. I’ll compile the data and present a
proposed budget to the board. Generally this process should be completed prior to our first meeting in September. We’ll
get this year’s budget handled and look to get next years approved before our last meeting in June.
I’m excited to have received Board approval to award a $500 Scholarship this year. Howard Muscott has chaired this
position, and has been very busy. To date, he’s contacted about 100 schools. We have one award this year, but hope to
expand that to three next year.
Visit our website for more information.
