Join Us in the Kitchen! Summer 2014 Mini-Camps
Join us in the Young Chefs Academy kitchens for summer camps filled with real
cooking and real fun! Experience our culinary adventure each Tuesday, Wednesday
and Thursday, from 9:00am-Noon as you perfect cooking skills, work with kitchen
gadgets, master recipes, and make new friends. Summer camp never tasted so good!
[X] Baking Basics—June 24- June 26: We’re baking with international flair! This year, we’re inviting our International Young
Chefs Academy locations to share baking specialties from their countries. We’ll also explore baking basics, tricks of the trade,
and some state-side favorites through recipes like Tres Leches Cake, New York Cheesecake, Chocolate Zucchini Bread,
Indian Flatbread, Focaccia Carbonara, and Croissants!
[X] Beat the Heat—July 1-3: This week we’ll be chilling and grilling the goodness of summer’s bounty! Whether you’re making
cool bites like Frozen Breakfast Burritos or Easy Ice Cream Sandwiches, or hot treats like BBQ Chicken Kabobs or Sausage
Potato Apple Bake, all recipes will be sure to make you appreciate the summer weather!
[X] Flavor Fiesta—July 8- July 10: Come celebrate the culinary traditions of Mexico! Savor the flavors of this ancient
cuisine that is so popular today. Grab your sombrero and let’s take a trip south of the border to try such dishes as Fresh
Tortillas, Homemade Salsas, Chicken Enchiladas, Beef Empanadas, Traditional Mexican Cookies, and Spice Cake!
[X] Famous Foodies—July 15- July 17: What was it that put their famous food on the map? Was it a recipe, like Betty
Crocker’s Classic Chicken Pot Pie? A blog (Chocolate Chunk Cookies from the winner of the Best Kid’s Cooking Blog 2013)? A
restaurant (Bacon Cheeseburger Meatloaf from Paula Deen)? We’ll have some fun whipping up their recipes!
[X] La Mia Italia—July 22- July 24: Try your hand at cooking like the chef of an Italian eatery…Creamy Fettucine w/ Lemon
& Garlic, Gelato al Cioccolato, Pizza Napoletana, Fresh Pasta & Meat Sauce, Chocolate Cannoli…the list goes on!
[X] I Love Chocolate—July 29- July 31: Who doesn’t LOVE chocolate? We’ll bake, dip, and whip as we make some favorite
chocolate sweets and treats like Chocolate Boston Cream Pie, Chocolate Eclairs, Chocolate Baklava, and Chocolate Meringue
Cookies. Earn your title as the ‘king/queen of cocoa’!
[X] Sweet Treats— August 5- August 7: Do you have a sweet tooth? This camp will be sure to satisfy! We’ll make Banana
Split Cupcakes, Chocolate Snickerdoodles, Dulce de Leche Marshmallow Brownies, Homemade Twinkies, Baked Donuts and
more that will definitely cure any sugar craving!
[X] Bonjour! To French Bites— August 12- August 14: This cooking adventure takes us to France, known for its rich,
delectable food and beautiful presentation. Learn how to be a blue ribbon French chef in your own kitchen making recipes like
Fresh Baguette, Banana French Toast, Provencal Vegetable Soup, Crepes w/ Ham & Asparagus Filling, and Orange Sorbet!
[X] Celebrity Chefs— August 19- August 21: We’ll be following in the footsteps of some of the most famous chefs! Don’t
miss this tasty adventure into the cookbooks of the classic Jacques Pépin (Ratatouille w/ Penne and Mini Savory Cheesecakes
over Arugla), the charming Julia Child (Brussels Sprouts w/ Cheese and Quick Apple Tarte Tatin), and meal-mogul Rachael
Ray (Oatmeal Cookie Pancakes w/ Mulled Maple Syrup and Vegetable & Bean Stoup)!
All-American Favorites—August 26- August 28: We will take to the highways and by-ways across America and bring regional
favorites back to our YCA kitchens! The South: Creamy Grits w/ Sweet Corn and Mississippi Mud Pie! The Midwest:
Blackberry Cobbler and Creamy Coleslaw! The West Coast: Cobb Salad w/ Ranch Dressing and Apple Pies!
Registration for each weekly mini-camp is $135.00 for all three days (siblings receive a $15 discount); ages 6+;
you must be pre-registered. Payment is non-refundable & non-exchangeable due to limited class sizes. Call
