SCORING







Each match is the best 2 out of 3 games (time permitting).
Match time limit is 1 hour.
Games go to 25 points using the Rally-point scoring system. A two-point advantage is needed to win.
The team leading an unfinished game by 2 or more points at the end of the hour is declared the winner of that game.
If the ball hits any part of the line, it is considered in and good.
Service zone is the full width of the court.
A serve that hits the net, goes over, and lands in is considered good.
House Rules of Play



As per the last league survey, TRADITIONAL VOLLEYBALL RULES (no touching the net) are in effect.
(FIVB Modified Net rules are not used in these leagues)
There are no umpires so teams call their own fouls.
Common fouls
o A double hit (only one consecutive hit per person).
o Contacting the ball on the opponent's side of the net prior to their 3rd hit. (NOTE: A follow-through on a
spike that started on the right side of the net is not considered a foul.)
o Server hits the ball out-of-bounds or into the net.
o Ball hits the roof or floor.
o Blocking or spiking a serve.
o Touching the net.
o Completely crossing the center line under the net.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE HIT


The ball may touch any part of the body.
The ball must be hit, not caught and/or thrown.
REPLAY OF POINT OCCURS WHEN:




there is interference on the court (i.e. ball on court, player from other court interferes in rally).
the ball hits an object that is hanging down.( ie: gym curtain, lights, basketball apparatus) and interferes with the
CONTINUATION of the rally
o Note: a ball that is clearly going to go out (hit ceiling or back wall) and hits an object (light, curtain,
basketball apparatus) on it’s way to being out of play, is not a replay.
Both teams foul simultaneously.
Injury to a player that stops the rally.


The winning team is responsible for reporting the match result to the Sport & Recreation Volleyball Score Line within
