Why has the Baseball ATS Lock Club been so successful throughout the years? There are many reasons but we’ll focus
on two keys.
1)Evolving. The game has changed in many ways throughout the last two decades so ATSwins.com has had to
adjust through the evolvement of the game. For example, in the late nineties, home runs were hit a record pace and
we adjusted before Vegas started posting higher totals. Pitchers were getting torched, but we were able to get through
that era with a winning record and a major profit, while others stumbled. In 2007, after drug testing was established,
the home run rate took a precipitous drop. Were others ready for such an alarming rate of the lack of long balls? We
were and unders were used early and often that season until the books caught up.
2)Personnel. Having the best personnel (scouts, contacts) has enabled us to obtain the best resources that are not
available to the general public or the other sports firms. The success of ATS wins.com can be attributed to several key
factors. Predominant among them is their access to invaluable information that is not available to the general public.
Having information on whether a pitcher is losing velocity due to a sore arm or a hitter is not seeing the ball due to
fatigue is just examples of key information to help us track games. Another key factor in baseball is having knowledge
about a team's bullpen. We track each pitcher to check out their form. We know whether they are sharp or wild, throwing straight or with movement and how whether their velocity is consistent or fallen off.
There are two key differences between baseball, football and basketball. We call them betting advantages. Unlike football, in baseball there are a 10-15 games every day from late March through late October. Unlike basketball, you
only have to pick the winner and not worry about your team covering the spread.
Baseball handicapping has evolved throughout the years due to the advent of every kind of statistic known to man.
The most popular are specialized statistics like OPS (on base+slugging) and Total Average (Total bases+hit by
pitch+walks+stolen bases).
These key stats help evaluate every player’s performance, but baseball is not just a game of numbers. It takes a skillset,
a mindset and a confidence that sets it above every other sport. Athletes in football and basketball think they can dominate the sport and then realize that they can’t hit a curve ball. What we’ve been able to do through our 20+ years
of hiring personnel is to adjust to every curve that baseball throws us and come back stronger.
What we really love about this game is that it’s still played by people, not computers. It’s played between the white
lines, inside the locker rooms, the video rooms, in spring training and the winter leagues.
All professional sports are dictated by the health of athletes. This can be a detriment when it comes to handicapping
baseball, but to ATSwins.com, it’s also an advantage. Throwing a baseball is not a natural motion, so teams have to
be careful with pitchers - especially young ones. But winning takes precedence over health, and that's why guys go on
the disabled list all the time. ATS knows when it comes to finding about who is healthy and who is playing hurt, which
pitchers have dead arms and which ones are able to go the distance.

(-200) over Florida as a 5-unit play and the game loses, our
clients lose 10 units on one game. But if we have the other sideFlorida (+180) over St. Louis- our clients win nine units. It’s not
worth giving out big favorites, but finding those big dogs is a
obsession of ours. Over the last 10 years, ATSwins.com has won

ATSwins.com will do what it takes to dominate this
baseball season and money is no object. That type of
thinking doesn’t always work in baseball, but most
often, the team that spends in the top 10 in payroll,
usually comes out on top. The 2012 World Series
Champion San Francisco Giants spent $117.9 million
on their payroll. They spent over $53 million on three
pitchers in Barry Zito, Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain.
They spent about 30 million more than that to win the
2014 World Series, but the Series MVP Madison
Bumgarner made just $3.95 million. They won just 88
games last year, but managed to get hot in the playoffs as a wild card team.
In 2013, Boston spent $140 million and won the
World Series with the fifth-highest payroll in the
league. The Los Angeles Dodgers spent $220 million
to lead the league, while this season, the New York
Yankees have spent an incredible $260 million. That
includes the signings of CF Jacoby Ellsbury, C Brian
McCann, OF Carlos Beltran and Japanese pitcher
Masahiro Tanaka.
Last year, we said “watch out for Kansas City”, who
ended up in the 2014 World Series. In 2014, Boston
fell apart due to injuries and age and ended up
going 71-91. Expect the Red Sox to improve this season with the additions of pitchers Rick Porcello, Wade
Miley and Justin Masterson. While the rotation is
much-improved, they lack a dominant ace. The
offense adds 3B Pablo Sandoval, SS/OF Hanley
Ramirez, OF Rusney Castillo and OF Mookie Betts to
give them some speed and punch.
Don’t be shocked if Houston and the Chicago Cubstwo perennial losers-make huge jumps thanks to offseason moves. The Astros went 70-92 last year as
they’ve been trying to win the methodical way. The
Astros added catcher/outfield Evan Gattis and pitcher James Hoyt from Atlanta. Gattis is 6-4, 260 and
has hit 43 home runs over his last two years in just
723 at-bats, despite back issues. They have a talented young pitching corps led by Dallas Keuchel and
Collin McHugh. George Springer, Jose Altuve and
Chris Carter have star potential.
The Cubs went 73-89 last season and have some of
the best young talent in baseball. They traded for
Houston center fielder Dexter Fowler and catcher
Miguel Montero. They have rookie phenoms in OF
Jorge Soler and 3B Kris Bryant, who will help improve
an offense that ranked 12th in the NL in runs scored.
Anthony Rizzo is a 25-year old first baseman with
immense potential, while they now have a proven ace
in Jon Lester. Yes, Theo Epstein has developed a
potential monster in Chicago.
On the downside, Atlanta traded away their top
power guys in Jason Heyward, Evan Gattis, and
Justin Upton. They’ve lost veteran starters Ervin
Santana and Aaron Harang, who had combined for
64 starts. The Braves aren’t used to losing as they
went from 96 wins to just 79 in 2014. Now they are
going back to the Houston Astros version of grooming
young talent for the next two years until they move
into their new ballpark.
Milwaukee traded away pitcher Yovani Gallardo to
open up a spot for Jimmy Nelson in the rotation. This
team thrives on mediocrity as they ended with an 8280 record last year. The addition of Adam Lind was
a nice move for a team that was one or two pieces
away from going to the playoffs, but they are still too
far off. They need a bounce-back year from Ryan
Braun, who probably won’t get much better without
the aid of something illegal.
Money doesn't necessarily buy championships, but it
doesn't hurt your chances either. It just depends on
how you spend your money.

from first to home? Does he have the range at shortstop, and can he go better to his left or to his right?

Another example of information we have been working with involved last
year's matchup between the Baltimore Orioles and Kansas City Royals on
Friday, April 25, 2014. ATS released Kansas City (-105) for 5 units. This release
was made due to key information from our consultants (gathered from their
scouts and contacts). Here are some of the examples:
1) The Royals were coming off a tough road trip to Cleveland, where they went 1-3. The offense produced 15 runs in four games but there was a feeling of optimism as the Royals felt they were close
to breaking through with the bats. They were also 10-4 in their last 14 against the American League
East.
2) Baltimore came off a successful road trip where they went 5-3 in Boston and then Toronto. Yet
Baltimore felt more comfortable on the road because they were 2-4 in their first six at home.
3) Kansas City sent rookie Yordano Ventura to the mound after a poor performance against
Minnesota. That was his first bad game after he allowed just one earned run in his first 13 innings
pitched in two starts. Ventura struggled with control against the Twins, allowing four runs in four
innings with four walks. He struggled with his release point and after a bullpen session, was back to
his form in the first two starts.
4) Ventura was a young Dominican with a dominant fastball that could go over 100 and had struck
out 19 batters in 17 innings. He also had a wicked change-up that could confuse batters. Baltimore
had never faced him before and that was a major factor in this selection.
5) Baltimore starter Ubaldo Jimenez was once a prospect similar to Ventura, but as he got older, he
was starting to lose velocity. He had not won in his first three starts as he allowed 27 hits in 21 innings
along with five home runs. He was not the perfect pitcher for Camden Yards, due to his inability to
keep the ball low in the zone. Kansas City had several high ball hitters, including Alex Gordon, who
was one of their best hitters.
6) ATSwins.com’s brass never understood why the line was -105 nd started at Baltimore -110 when
we released it. We felt that the number should have been closer to Kansas City -120 and when we
noticed that the line was only -105, we jumped all over it.
RESULT:
Ventura dominated an Orioles lineup featuring Chris Davis (who hit 53 home runs the year before) and
Adam Jones. He struck out eight in eight innings, allowing seven hits and walked just two in his seventh
career start. Kansas City got to Jimenez in the first inning, scoring two runs and that was enough. Jimenez
pitched decently after that, but ended with four walks and four earned runs in six innings. Erick Hosmer,
Billy Butler and Alex Gordon opened up with three straight singles to start the game. This could have easily been a 10-0 game as the Royals left a remarkable 22 runners on base. But the bottom line was that
Ventura was just too good for the Orioles’ bats. More importantly, ATSwins.com’s Lock Club clients won an
easy 5-unit selection on Friday night.
