国際仏教婦人会 春の遠足
April 11th
2015 (Saturday)
The International Ladies Association of Buddhism has the pleasure to
announce our Spring Outing to Tsukiji Hongwanji in Tokyo.
The Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple is a branch temple of the Jodo Shinshu
Hongwanji-ha denomination. The history of this temple traces back to 1617, when Junnyo
Shonin established a temple near Asakusa in Edo. However, due to the Great Fire of 1657, the
temple was rebuilt at its current location on reclaimed land and reconstruction project was
undertaken by devout followers. The present temple that replaced the one lost in the Great
Kanto Earthquake of 1923 was designed by Ito Chuta based on Indian architectural motif. In
2014, the temple was designated as national important cultural property. Please join us to visit
this historical temple and experience the spirit of Buddhism in Japanese culture!
