ATTENTION 9TH AND 10TH GRADE STUDENTS AND THEIR PARENTS/GUARDIANS:
Beginning in spring 2016, all Michigan high school juniors will take the Scholastic
Aptitude Test (SAT) as part of the required state assessments. ACT will no longer
be required. To share information with you about this important transition, Utica Community
Schools invite all current 9th and 10th grade students and their parents to attend:

COLLEGE INFORMATION
The UCS College Fair is this Thursday, April 16 from 6:30-8:00 pm at Henry Ford II. Come and speak
with the admissions advisors about their schools. All in-state and numerous out-of-state schools will be in
attendance.
The Citadel is hosting their Open House called Discover the Citadel on Friday, April 17. If you are
looking at a federal service academy, senior military college and are interested in ROTC
scholarships, check this out. Registration begins promptly at 12:30 pm in the lobby of Mark Clark
Hall. Space is extremely limited, so timely registration is preferred. Register by calling 800-868-1842.
James Madison College (within MSU) welcomes high school juniors and their families to join us for our
upcoming Junior Visit Days. These programs are specifically tailored for high school juniors and will
introduce students to James Madison College, MSU's Residential College of Public and International
Affairs. Sessions will include presentations from James Madison College, MSU Admissions, MSU
Honors College, a student panel, and tours of academic areas of Case Hall. The final spring date is April 17. You
can register online for all Junior Visit Days.
Oakland University has their Human Health Day THIS Saturday, April 18. Come and check out the School of
Nursing and the School of Health Sciences. The event runs from 9 am – noon, with check in at 8:30 am. To
learn more about research opportunities and admission requirements as well as scholarship prospects, register

Next Friday, April 24, is College Day and we are asking ALL SENIORS to wear t-shirts or sweatshirts

MSU Harold I. Gach Memorial Scholarship
For incoming freshman from Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties who have personally battled cancer or who have
been impacted by cancer through a parent who may have suffered with the disease. This scholarship is intended to
encourage students who have demonstrated capacity to achieve educational goals, the motivation to achieve these goals
and the initiative to seek opportunities to further their progress. Apply online at MSU.edu and search for Gach

Student View Scholarship Program
The Student-View Scholarship Program is a unique opportunity for students. The following prizes will be awarded: one
$4,000, two $1,000, ten - $500. Students need to complete a 20 minute survey about local colleges to be entered into the

Credit Union ONE William G. Coyne Scholarship Program
To qualify you must be a graduating senior, whose family is a member of Credit Union ONE for a minimum of 6 months,
minimum 3.0 GPA and have completed 30 hours of documented, qualified community service during junior/senior year.

Eastern Michigan University Alumni Association Scholarship
Award Amount: $1,250 per year for up to 4 years. Applicants must be admitted to EMU, have a minimum 3.2 GPA and
must be sponsored by a parent or grandparent who is an EMU Alumnus. Applications are available online at

Deadline is May 1, 2015.
Detroit Economic Club Scholarship Program
Award Amount: 2 - $2,000 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors. Scholarships are renewable for up to three
years. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.2; demonstrate leadership and character through extracurricular
activities, service in school and in their community, volunteer involvement and paid work experience, demonstrated
financial need based on completion of the FAFSA, and overcoming hardship to achieve both academic and personal

Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan

ARAB AMERICAN CHALDEAN COUNCIL (ACC)
ACC’s Scholarship Awards Program is available once a year to graduating high school seniors. Scholarships are based
on academic excellence and financial need. Applicants must be a high school senior, who has been accepted to college,
with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and has demonstrated extracurricular/ volunteer activities. Please visit the counseling office
for an application.

AAA MICHIGAN SCHOOL SAFETY PATROL
Students that are able to show documented proof of being a Michigan safety patrol, have good academic standing, and
have participated in community and extracurricular activities can compete for 4-$1,000 awards. Applications are available
in counseling.

B. Davis Scholarship
Award Amount: $1,000. This website has information about applying for other scholarships as well. Information and

HOMER VAN HOLLENBECK FOUNDATION
$2,000 scholarships will be awarded to hardworking student in the Macomb County Area. Students interested must have
a min. GPA of 2.5; demonstrate a hardship, and plans on attending college full-time beginning in fall of 2015. Please see

FASHION SCHOOL; 2 SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
1. The first scholarship is "Aspiring Fashion Professional" Scholarship. This is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded
to students that are interested in pursuing a fashion degree at an accredited post-secondary school or college. Interested

FASHION SCHOOL; 2 SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
2. The 2nd Scholarship is the "Aspiring Animation Professional" Scholarship Program. This is the 4th year we are
awarding this scholarship for AnimationCareerReview.com. We are offering high school seniors the opportunity to win a
$1,000 scholarship. This will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing an animation career path at an

This $1,000 scholarship is available to seniors that are current or former athletes. Students need to write a 400-500 word

Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program
This scholarship is available to all high school junior and seniors that have the ambition to succeed. The program will be

Brandon Bonkowski Scholarship
High school seniors that had to overcome some form of learning disability can write a 300-500 word essay explaining the
disability and how they persevered to overcome it. Examples of conditions include ADHD, Asperger’s Syndrome, and
dyslexia. Graduating seniors without a disability have a 2.5 GPA or better, plan on attending a college or university can
submit a 300-500 word essay on “10 reasons why you are awesome.” Both scholarship opportunities offer $1,000 in

There are a range of scholarship offerings for students with a 3.5 GPA and 23 ACT score. Additional performance awards,
up $1,000, available for students interested in art and music. Special interest scholarships are also available through the

Adrian College
Scholarship ranging from $9,000- $14,000 are available for students with a 3.3 GPA and 22 on the ACT. Adrian is

Ball State University (Ohio)
Students with a 3.0 GPA automatically qualify for $10,500 (ACT scores not a factor). Other types of scholarships and

Central Michigan University
Central offers automatic merit based scholarships. Prestige: 3.25 GPA and ACT score of 27= $6,000 year for 4 years.
Excellence: 3.0 GPA and ACT score of 23 = $4,500 year for 4 years. Success: 3.0 GPA and ACT score of 23=$3,000 a

Ferris State University
Any student that has a 3.0 GPA and 21 on the ACT is eligible for merit based scholarships. Students can utilize the net

Eastern Michigan University
Students with a 3.0 or higher GPA, and 20 or above on the ACT are eligible for the Emerald Scholarship at EMU. This is

Kettering University

Any student that has a 3.4 GPA and 23 on the ACT is eligible for scholarships. Students that have had a family member

Regency Beauty Institute
Interested students can earn up to $5,000 in scholarship to help fund their educational venture. The institute is looking for

Western Michigan University
Merit and need-based scholarships are offered. After students apply to the university, they are considered for award
