Eric Scherer (Director of Future Media, France Télévisions), expert in media, new
technologies and digital trends, opens the MIPFormats Keynote Series with a
presentation on the impact of digital in the TV business.
Eric Scherer has spent his career working for Agence France-Presse, Reuters and AFX
News in a wide range of functions spanning journalism, management, business
development, strategy and new media in locations across the globe including Japan,
North America and the UK.
He blogs at meta-media.fr about his favorite subject: all aspects of the digital
revolution and how media industries should adapt and surf the accelerating pace of
change. He teaches Entrepreneurial Journalism, is a regular speaker at conferences in
Europe, and is the author of a glossary "La Révolution Numérique" and an essay ""Do
We Still Need Journalists?".

Marc-Antoine d’Halluin (CEO, Zodiak Media) discusses in an interview with Eric Scherer
(Director of Future Media, France Télévisions) Zodiak Media’s strategy for format creation
and distribution following recent industry consolidation and the impact of digital
disruption.
Marc-Antoine d’Halluin is an international TV executive with broadcasting expertise
across numerous markets.
He initially worked at Sony Pictures (1995-97) and Fox Kids Europe (1998-2003) in both
cases mostly in London but also in Los Angeles and Paris. In 2003, he moved to
Stockholm where he became the CEO of Canal+ Nordic which had just been
acquired from Vivendi by two private equity funds until the business was sold to the
SBS Group in 2005. He then spent the next five years (2006-11) in Dubai running, as
CEO, Showtime, a Pay TV platform, and then OSN, following the merger of Showtime
with competitor Orbit in 2009.
He returned to London in Autumn 2011 where he operated as an advisor and investor
in the media industry as a Partner at Rubis Media and he was appointed CEO of
Zodiak Media in October 2013.

JENS RICHTER, CEO, FREMANTLEMEDIA INTERNATIONAL
Jens Richter, who was recently appointed CEO at FremantleMedia International, shares
in an interview with Eric Scherer (Director of Future Media, France Télévisions), his
extensive knowledge and vision of current market trends and the new opportunities
influenced by digital expansion.
Jens Richter took up the role of CEO FremantleMedia International (FMI) on January
1st 2015 to oversee the global distribution of FremantleMedia’s finished programming
and home entertainment catalogue, comprising more than 20,000 hours of premium
content from FremantleMedia’s in-house teams and the world’s foremost third party
production partners, and sales teams that span the US, UK, EMEA, Asia and Australia.
He reports to FremantleMedia’s Global Chief Executive Officer, Cecile Frot-Coutaz,
and sits on FremantleMedia’s Operating Board.
Richter joined the business from Red Arrow where he was Group Director and MD of
Red Arrow Entertainment Group (RAEG). He was instrumental in building RAEG into a
global production and distribution group. He packaged, co-financed and facilitated
Red Arrow’s UK and US scripted slate for the international market and was responsible
for the global roll-out and brand management of Red Arrow’s format slate, including

The Taste
and
Off Their Rockers, which became hits on US networks ABC and NBC
respectively. Richter was also MD of Red Arrow International (RAI), a business he built
from scratch and turned into an international distribution house, with offices in Los
Angeles and Hong Kong. During his tenure, Richter built a catalogue of more than 500
titles across all major genres and was responsible for packaging and co-financing
drama series, overall representation deals and extended the business into the digital
space. He is credited with establishing an on-going co-production partnership
between Red Arrow and Granada Australia.

Yang Weidong, Senior Vice President and President of Tudou.Com at Youku Tudou,
China’s leading internet television company, will share insight on being the first online
video platform to invest in world-renowned entertainment formats (Big Brother, The
Voice Kids,…).
Mr. Yang served as the Chief Executive Officer of Max Times, a youth entertainment
content and marketing company, since November 2011. From January 2009 to
November 2011, Mr. Yang served as Marketing Activation Director of Nokia Greater
China. From 2002 to 2008, Mr. Yang held various positions in advertising and marketing
at Nokia. Mr. Yang holds a bachelor's degree in Chinese literature from Hohai
University in Nanjing.
