Senior Schedule 2015

Seniors & Parents,
Congratulations! Your senior year is winding down and we are sure that you are anticipating this very
important time of your life. We are sending you this letter to make sure that you are aware of all of the
upcoming activities and important dates for seniors of Tooele High School. If you have any questions regarding
any of this information, please feel free to contact us here at Tooele High School and we will do the best we can
to answer your questions.
Important Information for Graduation 2015
Graduation will be held on Thursday, May 21st at 7:00 pm. Seniors are expected to be at the Huntsman
Center by 6:15 pm. Tooele High School’s graduation ceremony is a formal affair. Students should wear
clothing according to the following standards.
 Senior guys: dress slacks, dress shoes, a light colored shirt, and a tie.
 Senior girls: light colored dress which is shorter than your gown, and a low to medium high pump or
sandal shoes.
Anyone attending the graduation ceremony should make arrangements for their children under the age of eight.
You are free to decide whether or not your child will sit through the entire ceremony, but please do not bring
children and infants that will detract from the special ceremony to honor the Graduating Class of 2015.
**The gowns this year are not the same as in the past. Everyone MUST order their gown through
Jostens for this year. If you have not yet ordered yours, please make sure that you call Jostens directly at
801-766-6754 right away to make sure that you will have your gown ready for graduation.
Students will be able to pick up their cap and gown on Tuesday, May 19th after graduation practice. You will
need to have your completed check out slip signed by your teachers and other personnel before you can pick it
up. Make sure that you attend school on the checkout days so you will not be delayed in getting your cap and
gown. There is also an exit survey that must be taken as part of the check out process. This will be done in
your senior English class. If you do not currently have an English class, you need to contact your counselor to
make other arrangements.
Please make certain your gown is pressed or steamed to remove wrinkles caused from shipping and storage in
the box. After you receive your gown you should hang it up and let the wrinkles relax before you press it.
The entitlement of participating in the graduation ceremony is a privilege, not a right; therefore ALL
Seniors must attend the practice in order to participate in the graduation ceremony. Practice is to be held
on Tuesday, May 19th in the auditorium starting promptly at 8:00am. This is a mandatory practice! After
practice, you will be able to get your cap and gown.
*In order to participate in the graduation ceremony, you must pass the requirements set by Tooele County
School District and the State Office of Education. In addition, you cannot have any “U”s on your citizenship
grades. If you have any questions about this, please see your counselor or the attendance office.
The Senior barbeque will be held at the Pavilion up Settlement Canyon at 1pm, after the gowns have been
handed out. Cost for the barbeque is $6.00 and needs to be paid in the finance office. Please pay ASAP so we
can get a good count of how many will be attending so we order the correct amount of food.
The program is getting ready to be printed and you need to verify the correct spelling of your name. There is a
list outside of Mr. Valdez’ room (206). If your name is spelled incorrectly, you must let him know by
Wednesday, May 13th.
Important Dates for Seniors
Scholarship Night: Will be held on Monday, May 11th at 7:00 pm in the auditorium. At scholarship night, students will
be awarded community, school, and college scholarships and honor cords will be given. Also honor cords will be given.

very important day.
Any of the following issues will prevent you from participating in the graduation ceremonies:
 Failing a required class
 Having a “U” on your transcript
 Have any unpaid fines or fees
 Inappropriate behavior that could result in a suspension.
Lagoon Day: Lagoon day will be held on Wednesday, May 20th. Seniors must pay in the finance office by Tuesday, May
19th to attend. The cost is $48.00. This is first come first served until the buses are full. Buses will leave at 8:00 am and

Church at 8:00 pm, located on the corner of 7th Street and Vine Street. Seniors, please dress accordingly, walking shoes
and a jacket. ATV and motorcycle riders must follow state laws (helmets must be worn!) Flares will cost $4.00 each.
They can be purchased at the church. A flashlight is recommended to help you navigate your way down from the “T”.
Only THS seniors in the Class of 2015 will be allowed to light the “T”.

Senior Luncheon/Cook-out: Senior luncheon will be held on Tuesday, May 19th at 1:00 pm at the Pavilion up
Settlement Canyon. There is no fee to enter the canyon on this day. You just need to let the worker know at the gate that
you are with Tooele High School and you can enter for free. However, there is VERY LIMITED parking at the pavilion.
Please plan to carpool up the canyon. You can meet at the gate and park cars there and carpool the rest of the way.
Chicken will be served along with various side dishes, drinks and dessert. Cost is $6.00 a person. Pay in the finance
office by Tuesday, May 27th. This will be the last time you will all be together to eat and relax. Come and have a great
barbeque with your classmates!
Graduation Party: Following graduation on May 21st, there will be a graduation party. The details for this are still being
planned. The cost will be in the range of $10-$15 and will be a lot of fun. Raffle prizes will be awarded approximately
every 15-20 minutes. So seniors come and celebrate your achievements for the last time with the Tooele High School
Class of 2015!
All events are planned for your fun and are optional. If you decide to participate, you will be required to behave
like adults. Please do your best not to jeopardize your Graduation, especially for your parent’s sake.
***Understand that during the events scheduled for seniors, you must behave accordingly. Any serious or
unlawful behavior problems that occur during these events will prevent you from participating at the graduation
ceremony. You will graduate and receive your diploma, but you will not participate in the ceremony.
