She specializes in consulting and defending allegations of child sexual assault and child abuse. Her unique multidisciplinary approach to this specialty focuses on linguistics, forensic interviewing, psychology, and medicine, coupled with the law. Lisa participates in the Sexual Assault Model Policy Project, where she will work with prosecutors, judges, and law enforcement to draft a protocol for law enforcement response to sexual assault. She was awarded the Kimberly M. Cahill Bar Leadership Award from the State Bar of Michigan in 2011 and has been on the faculty of the Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan (CDAM) Criminal Trial College since 2005. Lisa was selected by her peers and recognized in Michigan Super Lawyers magazine from 2009-2014, and she was selected in 2014 as one of the Top Women Lawyers in Michigan. David Andersen, Oakland, CA David L. Andersen, of Andersen & Zimmer, has nearly four decades of experience as a trial attorney and an established reputation for achieving strong results on behalf of his clients. Jerry Grant, Rochester, NY Jerry Grant is an AccessData Certified Examiner, Cellebrite Certified Logical Operator, systems analyst, programmer, and trainer with more than 25 years of experience involving digital forensics, cell site analysis, social site investigations, eDiscovery, and litigation support. He has been qualified as an expert in many state and federal cases, and he is the recipient of many certificates in forensics, specialized computer training, and programming. He is currently an Independent Digital Forensics Investigator and Consultant and serves as a Digital Forensics Investigator for the Western District of New York Federal Public Defender’s Office. He was previously Computer Systems Administrator for the NYW Federal Public Defender’s Office and has been Acting Chief of the National IT LAN Application and Policy Support Team for the Administrative Office of the United States Courts, Office of Defender Services. Jerry oversees the NYW automation program, and is involved in national IT/digital forensic support for the Federal Defender Organization. Dr. Greg Hampikian, Boise, ID Dr. Greg Hampikian, of Boise State University, is a national known DNA expert and professor of forensic biology. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he serves as both the Director of the Idaho Innocence Project and the DNA Expert on the Georgia Innocence Project Board. Dr. Hampikian’s scientific work has been published in journals such as Nature and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. He is also co-author of “Exit to Freedom,” which chronicles Calvin Johnson’s 17 year battle to prove his innocence, and ultimately his exoneration, by DNA evidence. In 2012, Dr. Hampikian was named a Charter Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI). Election NAI Fellow status is a professional distinction accorded to academic inventors who have demonstrated a highly prolific spirit of innovation in creating or facilitating outstanding inventions that have made a tangible impact on quality of life, economic development, and the welfare of society. Most recently, Dr. Hampikian gained both national and international recognition for his DNA work on the Amanda Knox case. Professor Adina Schwartz, New York City, NY Professor Adina Schwartz currently teaches at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York and is an internationally recognized and published expert in evidence law, science and law, criminal procedure, and cyber-surveillance law, social and legal theory, and jurisprudence. Prior to joining the faculty at John Jay, Professor Schwartz was a federal public defender and, before that, an assistant professor in the Yale University Philosophy Department. Her articles have been cited in many court cases and in the National Research Council’s Report on Ballistics Imaging, a seminal work being her article, “A Systemic Challenge to the Reliability and Admissibility of Firearms and Toolmark Identification,” 6 Columbia Science Technology Law Review 1 (March 28, 2005). Dr. Paulette Sutton, Memphis, TN and Drew Ledbetter, Fayetteville, AR Dr. T. Paulette Sutton, one of the world’s leading experts on bloodstains, is the former Assistant Director of Forensic Services and Director of Investigations at the University of Tennessee, Memphis. She has been qualified as an expert in numerous courts, both State and Federal, and she has testified in nationally known murder cases, most recently in the Northwest Arkansas case of former Razorback Joshua Melton. Dr. Sutton has consulted with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and is a member of the Scientific Working Group on Bloodstain Pattern Analysis and the Forensic Science Editorial Review Board for CRC Press. Along with two other criminalists, she is co-author of the leading book, “Bloodstain Pattern Analysis: Theory and Practice,” and she is a Distinguished Member of the International Association of Bloodstain Pattern Analysts. She has been awarded both the Lecturer of Merit Award and Distinguished Faculty Award from the National College of District Attorneys and the Outstanding Service Award from the FBI. Drew Ledbetter is an experienced trial lawyer practicing exclusively in the area of criminal defense. Based in Fayetteville, Drew represents clients in State and Federal courts, both in Arkansas elsewhere. He was lead counsel on the Joshua Melton homicide case and was recently awarded the title “Best Attorney” by the readers of the Northwest Arkansas Times. Drew is the former Senior Trial Attorney for the Benton County Prosecutor’s Office and has also previously served the 14th Judicial District as the Special Prosecutor for Gun Violence and Narcotics. Stanley Wilhite, Little Rock, AR Stan Wilhite is a retired former member of the Crime Scene Investigation Unit of the Little Rock Police Department and a part-time Instructor of Forensic Science at Remington College. Dr. Antoinette Kavanaugh, Chicago, IL Dr. Antoinette Kavanaugh is a licensed forensic clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience providing forensic assessments and consultation in juvenile, criminal, civil, and capital cases nationwide. With expert training in the fields of psychology and the law, Dr. Kavanaugh employs reliable, research-based evaluation methods and techniques to meet rigorous legal standards. She specializes in, among other things, false or disputed confessions, competency to waive Miranda rights, competency or fitness to stand trial, insanity and diminished capacity, and interrogative suggestibility. Dr. John Fabian, Austin, TX Dr. John Matthew Fabian is both a board certified forensic and clinical psychologist and a fellowship trained clinical neuropsychologist. Dr. Fabian has a national practice specializing in criminal and civil forensic psychological and neuropsychological evaluations. A former director of a state court psychiatric clinic and staff forensic neuropsychologist at a juvenile court diagnostic clinic, he has been an expert witness in approximately 350 murder cases, over 200 of them being capital cases. Dr. Fabian has previously consulted with Neurology and Neurosciences Associates, examining adults with severe neurological dysfunction, and with Applewood Psychiatric Centers, examining high risk urban children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders, mental retardation, seizure disorder, traumatic brain injury, and PTSD. He has also worked as a clinical neuropsychologist and fellow at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine Center for Neuropsychological Services and at the Veteran’s Administration Polytrauma Traumatic Brain Injury and PTSD unit.
