AASS Foundation (AAF)
1. Introduction:
AASS Foundation (AAF) is a nonprofit, on political and nongovernmental organization, founded in 1999
and registered in 2007 under the Societies Registration Act 1860. The organization was started in District
Sahiwal, a district of Punjab to contribute to improve the overall condition of area starting from Punjab
to other Provinces of Pakistan. The idea behind the establishment of AASS Foundation (AAF) was to
improve the living condition of common person who is living in vulnerability due to having no or limited
access to resources and opportunities.
AASS Foundation (AAF) believes that in a world filled with rich resources and opportunities, poverty and
vulnerability is not inevitable. In Pakistan, like other developing or underdeveloped countries of world, a
common man has no or limited access to quality public services in terms of Health, Education, Income
Generation Activities, Access to basic necessities of life like Clean drinking water, Clean environment and
Safety etc.
AASS Foundation is working is engaged in different community development and sensitization projects
on self-help basis, members support and local donors in different parts of Punjab, AJK and Islamabad. In
2013 the board of AAF decided to increase the scope and geographical focus of the organization to all
parts of Pakistan. AASS Foundation, under its AASS Democratic Forum project has presence in 32
districts of Pakistan in form of its chapters comprising of volunteer members.

AAF envisions a progressive and balanced society by supporting and strengthening the vulnerable and
disadvantaged segments of society.

 To improve the condition of common person through access to improved health and education
services.
 To reduce the poverty through access to resources and opportunities.
 To enhance development process through developing the capacity of local communities and
establishing public private partnerships.
 To improve the access to basic rights through advocacy, networking and lobbying.
 To support and strengthen the vulnerable segments of the society including women, minorities,
disables and children.

 To respond to any type of emergencies in any part of country through life saving operations and
access to shelter, food and health facilities.

2. Geographical Presence of Organization:
AASS Foundation started its operation from district Sahiwal and during last 6 years of successful
operations and welfare programmes has extended its area of operations to other parts of Pakistan. The
organization has strong staff and volunteer member’s network from all parts of Pakistan. Currently AAF
has more than 200 volunteer members from 32 districts of different provinces of Pakistan.

AAF believes in Multi sectorial approach and believes that sustainable development can’t be achieved
without using multi sector approach. Current AAF is focusing in below mentioned sectors:

4. Sources of Income:
AASS Foundation (AAF) believes in volunteerism however for smooth operations and community
welfare tasks, AAF has established Fund Raising Unit. The organization is generating resources & funds
from below mentioned sources:

10. On Going Projects:
10.1. Women Skill & Enterprise Development Project (WSEDP):
AAF has designed WSEDP program designed to
economically empower the women by engaging them in
income generation activities. AAF is running WSEDP
Program in different parts of Punjab & AJK through
providing Skill development trainings to women on different
market based skills including Tailoring, Embroidery, Glass
Painting, Beautician, Computer Skills, Livestock Rearing and
Kitchen Gardening etc. AAF has successfully trained more
than 180 Women on market related skills.
Major Outputs:
1. Trained a number of 180 women in District Rawalpindi &
Islamabad on Tailoring, Beautician, Envelop making, Pickle
production, Kitchen Gardening & Livestock rearing skills.
2. Signed MoU with 5 Training Service Providers (TSP’s) to
train potential women on different rural & urban market
driven skills.
3. 8 Enterprise Development Training conducted to train
176 women and developed their business plans.
4. 2 Micro Enterprise Promotion Exhibitions planned for the
year 2014 to promote newly established women
entrepreneurs
10.2. AASS Democratic Forum:
AASS Democratic Forum was launched in 2013 by AASS Foundation with the specific objective of
educate and sensitize citizens about their rights and promote active citizen ship. The constitution of
Pakistan guarantees access to basic rights and quality social services to every individual. Free quality
education, health services, provision of basic necessities and life security, freedom of religion, freedom
of speech and protection to minorities.
AASS Foundation believes that citizens in any society are an important stake holder and can play a role
in wellbeing of society. It is a common phenomenon that the societies where citizens are more educated
and aware about their rights, the state institutions are more responsive to public needs. In the above
context AASS Foundation initiated its AASS Democratic Forum (ADF) project in 2013 to promote active
citizenship in the society. ADF is focusing to strengthen and promote democratic values in Pakistan.
ADF is established to work on values but not limited to:

1. Protection of Citizens Rights especially the vulnerable groups including minorities, women and other
disadvantaged groups.
2. Ensuring Rule of Law and Governance.
3. Strengthening democracy and citizen’s active engagement in democratic process.
4. Advocacy for improved service delivery in terms of social services.
District Level Chapters:
ADF operates and works its district level chapter’s network. Each chapter comprise of a minimum of 10
members with a minimum of 40% female participation. Minorities & Youth members are encouraged to
be the part of its network. ADF members elected their chapter’s president to lead the chapter for 1
calendar year. On completion of every year the membership is renewed. ADF members have to fill its
membership and avail its membership. ADF membership fall under Annual and Lifetime category.
ADF National Body:
All District level Presidents formulate ADF National Body. The National body meets bi-annually and is
more focused on policy level and legislation matters. The National body is also responsible to represent
district level chapters at provincial & national level.
11. AAF Governance and Management:
AAF is governed by Board of Director; who formulate its policies and oversee implementation of the
programs. The members of Board of Director meet every three months to discuss issues and progress
made during a quarter.
The Board of Directors appoints the Office bearers and Executive Director. The Executive Director is fully
responsible for overall management and activities of the organization and remains in regular contacts
with Board of Directors.
Administratively, AAF is divided into Program, Admin/ Finance, Human Resource, Monitoring and
Evaluation and Fund raising Units. The Unit is headed by a respective Manager and all Managers are
answerable to the Executive Director for progress of their respective units. The Executive Director is
responsible to present the quarter progress reports to Chairperson/ General Secretary of AAF.
The Manager of each section is responsible for his or her respective programs. Proper and timely
implementation of the program/project is the responsibility of the concerned manager with the
consultation of the ED. The Head Office regularly monitors all the activities of the programs including
progress review meetings, field visits and progress reports. Other activities of the Head Office are liaison
with the donor organizations, networking with government deportments, CSOs, CBOs, fund raising and
preparation of various documents.
AAF conducts weekly and monthly staff meetings to monitor progress. It also conducts external
evaluation to determine the progress made, identify gaps and explores opportunities for enhancing
performance.
The organization has double entry accounting system and financial policy. Organization has internal
mechanism control system, recruitment and procurement policies. All the organizational matters are
guided by the Policy Manual which is recently revised to incorporate further improvements with the

help of AAF professional team and other network members. Regular internal audits of accounts are
conducted by Board and Executive Director, and annual audits of accounts are conducted by the Charted
Accountant and firms.
