Minutes of the March General Membership Meeting April 6, 2015 Hosted by: North Star Sail Club The meeting was called to order at North Star Sail Club by Commodore Terry Dunn at 7:32 p.m. and leading the delegates in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. Invocation: By Yvonne Murray of NCYC. (PC ART BROOKS, absent- excused.) Officers Present: Commodore Terry Dunn, Vice Commodore Rick Romatz, Rear Commodore Ed Bolsendahl, Treasurer Brian Kaser, Secretary Kim Scicluna. Past Commodore Matt Barrells. Club delegates Absent: Idle Hour Yacht Club, Nautical Mile Yacht Club, Y-Knot Boat Club Commodore’s Comments: ● Welcome to the April 6, 2015 GM Meeting at North Star Sail Club, Co-hosted with Sand Point Yacht Club ● Everyone had a wonderful time in Midland at our Spring Rendezvous; if you haven’t attended you should attend next year. ● Would like to thank MacRay for hosting the educational series. Last week there was a boater safety class which was informative and interesting. Boaters should plan to attend. In a couple of weeks there will be a class given by Border Patrol on international travel. ● Reminder to let your mentor know if you would like them to attend an event or meeting at your club. If you are hosting a meeting I would like to get your flyer on the table for the previous month’s meeting. ● On the ABYA application, there is a question regarding whether or not your club is reciprocal for Commodore’s Ball. This means if you will provide free tickets to another club’s Commodore. Tickets are $25.00 per person. There will be a steel band this year Rear Commodore Report: ● Thank you to everyone that attended the Spring Rendezvous – for everyone that helped or volunteered. Without you it would not have been the success it was ● The Christmas Charity Ball is on December 5, 2015 at Fernhill Golf Club ● The Clinton River Clean-up is on Saturday, May 16 – we need volunteers, Inflatables and boats. Vice Commodore Report: Ships Store items are available. If anyone needs burgees for their Blessings of the Fleet, let V/C Rick Romatz know ahead of time so they can be ordered. Our speaker this evening is Captain Luke Clyburn from the Pride of Michigan and the Noble Odyssey Foundation If you have never been on the Pride of Michigan – get out on May 16 to take a tour during the “Pride of Michigan Open House”. The sea cadets are between the ages of 11 to 17 We had a lot of graduates in 2014 Captain Luke Clyburn provided a short film of the accomplishments of the Sea Cadets In 2015, we will be making movies in Port Austin and Harbor Beach – received a grant from Michigan Coastal and will be studying the lighthouse foundations. Dr. Smith will be coming out of retirement to assist this year. Next month we will have Terry Landis from the Huron Twp, environment committee to discuss Clinton River Clean-up.
