SteriDesign- Who are we?
◦ SteriDesign is in the business of creating simple, cost
effective, technology based product solutions which
disinfect pathogens commonly found on multiple user
device surfaces such as keyboards, mice, remote
controls, cell phones, etc.
WHAT IS THE ISSUE ?




These devices harbor pathogens and can be the cause of infection!
In a study at the University of North Carolina-found that computers tested
positive for a variety of microorganisms, including MRSA and C. difficile
(found in fecal matter).. (THEY HAVE 3500 KEYBOARDS)
University of Arizona Research Study (Keyboards in Educational Settings)
Microbiology Professor / leading expert on infectious disease, Dr. Charles
Gerba conducted a study that found computer keyboards harbor up to 400
times more microbial bacteria than the average toilet seats and our among
the dirtiest items in an PHYSICIAN OFFICE BASED SETTING.
Another study demonstrated that VRE and MRSA are capable of prolonged
survival on both computer keyboards, keyboard covers and remote controls.
After any contact with these items, both gloved and ungloved hands
frequently become contaminated.

The PROBLEM? HOW DO WE DISINFECT?
◦ Wipes and liquid disinfectants can cause damage to the
electronics
◦ In order to properly disinfect with traditional products, surface
must remain wet for at least several minutes.
◦ Most manufacturers of keyboards, remotes and other electronic
devices recommend not to use any chemicals on the device.
◦ Keyboards and remotes have crevices that are difficult to get to
with traditional products
◦ Association for Professionals in Infection Control – APIC (Guide to
Preventing C. Diff Infections) The guide’s prevention strategies
include “cleaning and disinfection of computers, including
keyboards” and goes on to say “check the computer
manufacturer’s recommendations for acceptable products.”

HOW DO WE SOLVE THE PROBLEM?


A BIT OF HISTORY ON UV LIGHT
◦ UV light has a variety of different wave lengths.
SteriDesign products use 256-264nm.
◦ Well documented for over 50 years that at this
wave length, called the “germicidal” wave length,
it will inactivate pathogens such as bacteria,
viruses and spores.

HOW DO WE KNOW THE STERIDESIGN PRODUCTS
