Your fishing trip with Selwyn Lake Lodge is fast approaching, and we want you to be prepared for all the excitement that will be taking place this summer. Please read through this package carefully to ensure you have completed all the necessary requirements prior to your trip. Trip Checklist Travel Book your plane ticket to Saskatoon (or make alternate travel arrangements). Bring your passport (required to enter Canada). Make your hotel reservation in Saskatoon. Fishing Licences Saskatchewan Fishing Licences must be purchased online before you arrive at the lodge. Your licences can be purchased online at: http://environment.gov.sk.ca/licences/ Northwest Territories Fishing Licences will be completed by our lodge staff and awaiting your signature upon your arrival. Selwyn Lake Lodge Guest Package 2015 Submit Final Payment Your remaining balance (subtract $1000 deposit from booking) is due 60 days prior to arrival at the lodge. Submit Personal Profile A personal profile document must be completed for each guest in your party and submitted electronically to [email protected] or by fax to 1-306-933-9454. The personal profile document can be found online on our website (http://adventuredestinations.ca/lodges/selwyn_lake_lodge/booking-rates/personalprofile-information) and at the end of this document named “Appendix 1 – Personal Profile Information”. Packing Luggage Guidelines Due to aircraft restrictions, we must limit the luggage weight to a maximum of 50 pounds per person. All luggage will be weighed prior to your departure to the lodge and any excess baggage will be left behind in Saskatoon. Two smaller bags are better than one large bag. Tackle Package Selwyn Lake Lodge is continuing to work towards providing an even better guest experience: this summer, we will be providing a very comprehensive tackle package for each guest to use while on location. Our guide team assembled the best tackle for our guests tailored specifically for the trophy northern pike, lake trout and arctic grayling on Selwyn Lake. However, if you have your own special fishing rod or lucky lure, you are more than welcome to bring it to the lodge. All we ask is that you notify our management team or head office so we can plan accordingly our travel arrangement and tackle allocations as necessary. Travel Flights to Saskatoon Guests must make their own travel arrangements to Saskatoon. We partner with the most professional travel coordinators in Saskatchewan and recommend you prepare all travel arrangements with Lobstick Travel at 1-800-665-0171. Ground Transportation Upon arrival at the Saskatoon International Airport (YXE), a representative from Selwyn Lake Lodge will greet you and transport you to your hotel. If you do not connect with our representative as you leave Security/Customs, please go to the Hotel Reservation Kiosk where you will contact the Provincial Car Service by pressing #1 on the phone to connect with your driver. You will be transported to your hotel once all the guests are accounted for. Hotel in Saskatoon We recommend that you book hotel accommodations at the Sandman Hotel (approximately 3 minute drive from the airport). Guests can dine at the Shark Club Bar & Grill or Denny’s 24hour restaurant located in the hotel or a variety of other restaurants in the area. At the Kreos terminal, you will board the private air charter and depart for Selwyn Lake Lodge. Please note this is a service provided for those flying into Saskatoon only. Guests who are driving into Saskatoon or are Saskatoon residents: Guests who are driving into Saskatoon or are residents of Saskatoon are responsible for arranging their own transportation to the Kreos Aviation Terminal. The terminal is located at #18 Wayne Hicks Lane (near the YXE airport). There is secured parking available for your vehicle at the terminal. Flights from Saskatoon to Selwyn Lake Lodge The Selwyn Lake Lodge private air charter departs Kreos Aviation in Saskatoon at 6:00 am. Flight time from Saskatoon into Stony Rapids is approximately 2 hours. Upon arrival into Stony Rapids, you will be met by a TransWest Air representative and will transfer about half a mile to the float-plane base. Flight time from Stony Rapids into Selwyn Lake Lodge on the float-plane is approximately 45 minutes putting arrival time at the lodge at approximately 9:00am. Departure Day (flights from Selwyn Lake Lodge to Saskatoon) Unfortunately, departure day always comes too soon! On the final day, you will enjoy a hearty breakfast, and board the floatplane for a 9:30 am flight back to Stony Rapids. In Stony Rapids, you will transfer to the air charter and depart for Saskatoon. Arrival time in Saskatoon is approximately 12:30 noon, and guests are responsible for all connecting travel arrangements from Saskatoon to wherever it is they call home. Following breakfast, guests will unpack in their suite and prepare for your first full day of fishing. Fishing Days 7:00-8:00 am – Breakfast served in the main lodge. 8:00 am-5:00 pm – After breakfast, you will prepare for an 8:00 am departure onto the lake with a full day of fishing ahead. You’ll grab your clothes, gear and personal cooler for use on the boat (to store a variety of pop, juices and light snacks) and head down to the docks to start their day of fishing. Two guests and a guide are assigned per boat. Everyone gets a fully padded swivel seat here! The morning is spent trophy fishing wherever the fishing is best. By noon, guests will have caught and kept an assortment of “keeper” fish for a delicious shore lunch, which is prepared by your guide. The rest of the day is spent on the lake until it’s time to start heading back to the lodge around 5:00 pm. 5:00-7:00 pm - Cocktail hour begins when you arrive back at the lodge. The chef serves a selection of hors d’oeuvres and the bar is open for service with a wide selection of premium beers, wine and cocktails. 7:00-8:00 pm – Dinner is served. 8:00 pm-onwards – Evenings can be spent lounging around the fireplace or outside on the deck, playing cards at the poker table, having a massage in the Common Island Spa, or watching sports on our satellite TV. Our cash bar is open all evening. Gratuities We are often asked for suggestions on appropriate gratuities for the staff at our lodge. A general guideline for gratuities is provided below: Guides: $60 per guest per day, depending on your satisfaction and their effort. You should personally hand this to your guide upon departure. Lodge staff (this includes the chef, servers and dock-hand): $30 per guest per day. This can be left with the Lodge Manager to ensure the gratuities get distributed fairly between the staff members who have worked hard to make your trip as good as possible. Optional Activities Day Fly-Out Fishing Excursions The fishing on Selwyn Lake is great! And by great, we really mean “world-class”! But, if you’re still itching for some extra adventure, you can book a day fly-out excursion in our Beaver floatplane to a number of lakes and rivers in the region, many that see fewer than 20 anglers per year! Fly-out rates are $500/person with a minimum group size of two. Striding River Great summer fishing. Hunt/Lefty Falls Tour Hunt Falls (formerly known as Lefty Falls) is the largest waterfall in Saskatchewan. Located on the Grease River, the waterfalls are about 60m (180ft) across and about 15m (50ft) tall. No hordes of tourists clambering for photographs here: Hunt Falls is only accessible by float plane landing on Eagle Rock Lake just above the falls. You will depart for your tour from Selwyn Lake Lodge with a knowledgeable staff member who will prepare lunch and accompany your group for the day.
