All children have the right to potential
Emerging themes getting in the way of this are:
• Cultural alienation
• Absence of positive male role models
• Physical health needs are being met
• Depression is common
• Boundary setting and follow-through is limited
• Two steps forward, one step backward.

What are the outcomes we’re seeking?
More mokopuna/children:
• Are safe
• Are healthy
• Are achieving
• Belong
• Participate
• Have improved life outcomes.

It’s early days, but what are some of the
indicators?
Children are:
– re-engaged in education or early childhood training
– having B4 school checks
– enrolled and are being seen by dentist
– being immunised
Parents are:
– up skilling including learning how to read and write
– entering the workforce
– building resilience and honouring their commitments
Services are engaging with caregivers in a different way

And on the softer side…
Many of the children and their parents are engaged in
therapy which is leading to:
– Improved behaviour
– Healthier relationships
– Less anxiety
– Improved wellbeing which increases their ability
to achieve

What can we do from here?
Kua tawhiti kë to haerenga mai, kia kore e haere tonu;
he tino nui rawa o mahi, kia kore e mahi tonu.
You have come too far not to go further; you have done
too much, not to do more.
