2015 Western Canada Games Team Athlete Selection Criteria & Process The team for the 2015 Western Canada Games will be selected by the Director of High Performance and appointed Provincial Coaches. The process will be approved by the Executive Director, Jill Groves and the High Performance Chair and Board Member, Don Voaklander. Director of High Performance – Provincial Coaches: Charlie McLean Ryan Schroffel – Edmonton Carson Bell – Edmonton Tom McLean – Calgary Marc Colangeli – Calgary Rene Simon – Red Deer The selection committee will base their selections on a number of the following factors. These factors are listed in order of priority. This Process has been approved by the High Performance Committee of Tennis Alberta.         ITF Ranking National Ranking – singles National Ranking – doubles Representing Alberta at the National Championships and results Weekly Training Program Competitive Schedule Player’s ability in both Singles and Doubles The player’s demonstrated ability to function well as team player Please be aware that any serious disciplinary issues will disqualify the participant from participating regardless of results. 1) 2015 Western Canada Games team will consist of:    4 male athletes (2 males U16; 2 males U14) 4 female athletes (2 females U16; 2 females U14) 1 Head Coach and 1 assistant Coach/Manager 1 2) Final Selection Final Selections will be made following the Indoor National Championships 2015 – Teams announced on or before 17th April 2015    The goal of the selection is to choose players who will achieve the best results for the team at the 2015 Western Canada Games. The objective of these selections is to achieve “Gold”. Players who are currently training outside Alberta will be considered for selection, as well as players who move to Alberta who satisfy the residency requirement and have significant results. 3) Athlete Appeal Process     Any Appeals may be forwarded to Tennis Alberta within 7 days of the final selections. Applicant must submit $100.00 with their appeal application. A reply to the applicant and a meeting date for the appeal will be forwarded to the applicant within 3 days after appeal has been received. The Appeal committee will send a decision to the applicant within 3 days after said meeting date. 2
