CLASSIFIED(Future Feature)

The weather cooperated, although each day started out in
the upper twenties. The afternoons were in the 50’s with a
light breeze for the Sunday
afternoon shooters.
Rumors had it that the course
was challenging and was supported by the scores with only
5 shooters breaking the 300
point plateau.
The winner of each divison
was given a custom designed
belt buckle commemorating
the event.
The Novelty shoot(which was
at 64 yards) was won by
Adam Carlise in the amount
of $100.
The IBO was able to register
32 new members at the event.
John Brown, IBO National
State Rep Coordinator and a
contingent of New England
IBO representatives including
our own Connecticut Rep.
Bob Gottorna assisted at the
shoot.
Several Vendors set up at the
event with tables promoting
their shops. Out thanks to
Northwest Sporting Goods
and Sportsmen’s Outpost for
their participation.
As always, numerous compliments were received on the
food. Thanks to everyone
who helped prepare, cook and
serve our hungry guests.
We would really like to thank
those members who stepped
up to assist with this event.
This includes the twenty plus
members who helped with
cleanup at the club the week
before .
The property looks great after
a great club effort. Let’s all
work to keep it in this condition.

DON’T BE AN OBSTACLE TO YOUR YOUTH ARCHER
“What did you do that time?” “Adjust
your sight.” “How many bullseyes did
you get?” “What was your score?”
These are all too familiar questions
asked by good meaning parents during
archery practice. As parents, we all
want our children to be successful
and we enjoy sharing in those successes.
Success in archery is founded on
repetitive form. One of the first goals
in archery is to build a solid foundation on which repetitive form can be
established.
BE ALERT SAFETY FIRST
As an archery club, we are very fortunate to have 3 outdoor courses on our
property, A Field course, a 3D course
and a Knock-a-Block. All members
need to remember that multiple
archers can be on the property and
courses at the same time. Safety
always comes first.
Also, you may see hunters on the
property as the seasons roll around.
Members may receive permission to
hunt deer or turkey on the property.
We all want to see the
arrows in the center of
the target but this is not
nearly as important as
all the arrows grouping
consistently even if they
are a foot outside the
center.

As hard as it may be,
Archery
each parent must try
hard not to pressure
their child and evaluate their progress
based on bullseyes and score alone.
For those archers with their
own equipment, we encourage
parents not to increase draw
weights to try and gain an
advantage. Excess draw
weight at this young age will
only exaggerate form issues
and create additional bad
habits which are hard to
overcome. It may also cause
injury to a growing body.
