Allfarthing School Bulletin
22nd May 2015
Dear Parents and Carers
Year 6 did themselves proud last week, demonstrating their perseverance, as they sat the year 6 SATs tests,
despite a horrible bug working
orking its way through the year group! Thanks to approved timetable variations and
supportive parents, all children were able to complete all test
tests on time. So well done to all involved.
Mrs Silke loved meeting them every morning
for a positive start tto the day at
the Headteacher's breakfast club where
bacon and egg butties, cereal and toast were
enjoyed by all. Huge thanks go to all staff and
especially Mandy and Jo in the kitchen, and
Nikki Bradford who all came in early to
support the children.

Primary School Swimming Gala
On Saturday 16th May an 18 strong team of Year 4 to Year 6 children represented Allfarthing School at the
yearly primary school swimming gala held at Putney leisure centre. The water was not warm and the pool at
33m long is not an easy swim, however they all gave it everything they had and were up against very stiff
competition. The team did themselves proud fully supporting each other, cheering their team mates on,
and all other school
ol children taking part in the swimming. Congratulations to everyone who took part, we
are very proud of you all and your sportsmanship.

May 2015
We have had a busy week this week in school with the following fabulous events:
• Year 1 said goodbye to their chicks which hatched a week ago and the classes have been watching
them grow stronger and bigger by the day
• Year 2 Mexican fiesta day
• Year 3 Lego workshop
• Year 4 Djembe performance
We promise to include photos and children’s comments in the bulletin after half term.
The children have had a great time taking part in each of these activities and we really appreciate the
support of the PTA but also all the parent helpers to help these events happen.
On Monday after half term our Year 6 children will be off to the Isle of Wight on their well deserved school
journey trip. It will be a quieter week in school without them. We hope you have a fantastic time and great
weather.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish you a happy holiday and look forward to seeing you all back
on Monday 1st June as there is NO INSET day.
Best wishes

PLEA FOR MORE VOTES – there is only one other project in the running and they currently have 500 votes

Deadline is 30th May!
PTA Aviva bid for Playground Funds
As you know the School and PTA have applied to Aviva for some funding for sports pitches for the back playground.
The project has reached the voting stage and the number of votes is critical as this is how Aviva determine who they
will support. If you haven't already voted please visit the Aviva site at https://communityfund.aviva.co.uk/voting/User/Register?returnUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fcommunity-fund.aviva.co.uk%2Fcms%2F register
and vote for Allfarthing.
Anyone can vote if they have an email address so please encourage everyone you know to do the same, and if your
child has an e-mail address let them support the project by voting too.
