American Legion Riders Chapter 143
2015 Scavenger Hunt
The Hunt will be conducted over a 4 month period (May, June, July, and August). Winners will be
announced and prizes presented September 16, 2015. Winners will be determined by total points. In
the event of a tie, a drawing will determine the winner.

1/3 of the total paid registration fees. Example: $400 registration fees, $133 prize.
1/5 of the total paid registration fees. Example: $400 registration fees, $80 prize.
1/10 of the total paid registration fees. Example: $400 registration fees, $40 prize.
Registration is open now through 31 May 2015. Registration fee is $25 per rider/motorcycle
combination (e.g., one rider and one motorcycle). No individual or motorcycle may have multiple
registrations (e.g., a passenger cannot register with a motorcycle if that motorcycle is already entered
with another registrant.). Registration will include completion of the registration form, payment of the
registration fee, and a description of the registered motorcycle. The first photo submitted will be used
as comparison for all future location submissions.
There will be 5 locations announced via email the 1st of each month and posted on the American Legion
Riders Post 143 Facebook page. Points to each location will be awarded based on the distance to that
location from the Capitol in Harrisburg. Locations may be provided as a street address, coordinates,
picture, description, or other clue(s). All locations are in Pennsylvania. The greatest distance to any
point (from the Capitol in Harrisburg) is 224 miles. In a typical month, the total points possible by
visiting all locations for a month are approximately 500. Visiting all points will accrue approximately
2000 points over the 4 month period.
In order to earn points for a location a photo of the registrant’s motorcycle at the location (i.e., in front
of the sign) must be submitted to the event coordinator before the 1st of the following month. The
submission should clearly identify the rider registrant. Registrants may submit photos via email to
[email protected] or by text to 717.798.6111. A confirmation email will be sent for each validated
photo. The registrant is not required to be in the photo. The motorcycle must be clearly identifiable as
the registered motorcycle for the submitting registrant. The motorcycle must be the motorcycle
registered for the event (i.e., two motorcycles are owned/ridden and a photo of the 2 nd motorcycle is
submitted – no points awarded.)
Registrants are not required to travel to the Capitol and then to a location. Registrants may travel to
any of the locations for that month from any location. Registrants are not required to visit every
location in order to be awarded points. Registrants may visit any number of the points designated for
the current month at any time during the month.
Registrants may visit multiple locations in one day. Points will be awarded for each individual location,
not actual miles ridden. Registrants may visit the locations individually or as part of a group. Photos or
group shots of motorcycles must clearly identify each registrant in the photo in order to earn points.
Submission must be made by the registrant. One rider cannot make submissions for another rider. For
group photos, any registrant may make the submission but must clearly identify each registrant.
One focus of the American Legion Riders is motorcycle safety, registrants who attend and provide proof
of completion of BRCII or ARC provided via the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) during the 4 month
period of the Scavenger Hunt (May thru August) will be awarded an additional 200 mileage points.
Completion of the BRC or BRC I will not qualify for the additional point award.
