Willem Hair Design Grand Re-opening with New Owner & Cut-A-Thon, May 3 to Fund Local Scholarships (CAMARILLO, Calif.) — Over 40 years ago, in 1974, Willem Van Hulzen founded Willem Hair Design (WHD), and has continuously operated the salon at its current location in the Las Posas Plaza in Camarillo, Calif. Van Hulzen, during his career spanning over the years and still going strong, has operated a successful salon, entered numerous prestigious competitions and professionally trained many stylists. One such stylist trained by Van Hulzen: Shelli Wells, was taken under his wing back in 1991, where he taught her the expert skills necessary to be a professional stylist. Since then, Wells has become a very successful stylist in her own right. In Oct. 2014, Wells purchased the salon from Van Hulzen, and is now the proud owner of WHD. Wells has decided to keep the name of the salon in reverence to her mentor. Van Hulzen will be staying on at the salon as a stylist, educator and as a trusted business adviser. “I really believe in her,” expresses Van Hulzen. “She has proven to be one of the most successful stylist in the salon. I'm happy to pass the torch onto such a business savvy person. The direction she is taking is great to see, and I know that Willem Hair Design is in good hands. I have no doubt that Shelli will be extremely prosperous in the future.” The salon, while still open for daily business, is currently undergoing a renovation, which includes new reception area furniture, new coffee bar, wall treatments and many other upgrades. A grand reopening and cut-a-thon will be held on Sunday, May 3 from 12 – 5 p.m. at 96 E. Daily Dr, Camarillo, Calif. All proceeds will fund the WHD Scholarship for local students at Camarillo and Rio Mesa High Schools to further their education in Cosmetology. Food and beverages will be provided, as well as prizes raffled off throughout the day. “I look forward to what’s to come for the salon,” says Wells. “I love what I do, and I feel honored to have had Willem as such a wonderful mentor both as a stylist and business owner. Between the launch of the new logo, the website and the beautiful renovations and upgrades we have made, I feel so proud of the hard work we have put in and appreciate all the positive feedback we have gotten from our clients. The grand re-opening and cut-a-thon will be a really fun event, and I'm happy it will help local aspiring cosmetology students stay on track toward their career goals after high school.” To learn more about Willem Hair Design, visit http://www.willemhairdesign.com/.
