On August 18-19, 2015, Anglo will host its first national chess tournament under the umbrella of Jirapak Chess Academy, as well as the Thailand Chess Federation. Details of the competition shall be released soon. Since this will be the first time for Anglo to host such an event, we would like to prepare our students ahead for this national tournament by creating an internal competition among our own campuses. Our first mini internal tournament, exclusive for Anglo students ONLY, will be held at the 64 Campus on June 7. Not to get caught too much on the word 'mini', this tournament will simulate the international chess tournament format so students are expected to play all the 7 rounds. I have attached to this letter the flyer for this 'internal tournament'. Since we would like it to be as real as it can be, trophies will be given out to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placers for U6 / U8 / U10 / U12 / U14 and Up categories. Medals will be handed out to those who can get 50% or more points, and a Certificate of Participation for all the participants. Likewise, a registration fee of 500 baht will be collected, which is inclusive of lunch. Winners in this event will be Anglo’s representatives in the national tournament on August. We do call on all parents to support our event and let your child advance his or her critical thinking skills, which is necessary outside the four walls of the classroom.
